for a full colored dyed fabric or canvas, or two cans for a saturated
deeper, bright color. My Lime samples use one can, as I wanted the black
Fabric Marker design to show up and really pop on my bag.
If you're uncertain about the fabric or dye color, test first on a fabric
swatch. These dyes work great on natural fibers and some synthetics.
They are safe for all septic systems.
1. Prewash fabric if it is new or has never been washed before dyeing
(Recently washed wet Lime items shown above).
2. Shake Tulip Liquid Dye bottle well. Use 1 bottle of dye per 2 lbs. of dry
fabric. Use 2 bottles for dark or bright colors.
3. Fill your washing machine with hot water.
4. Add dye and 1 cup of salt to water; let agitate.
5. Dampen fabric then add to water; do not overload machine. Extend wash cycle to 30 minutes.
6. When the cycle is complete, run a cold rinse cycle and wash fabric AGAIN.
7. Machine dry your fabric items or lay flat to dry (which usually avoids shrinking).
8. Immediately clean washer with hot water and 1 cup of bleach, running a full cycle.
WARNING:
May produce allergic reaction from skin contact. May be a skin and eye irritant.
Keep out of reach of children. Avoid skin and eye contact.
Wear protective gloves when using dyes.
1. Place a piece of cardboard (or shirt board product) inside your bag or
clothing. Make 4 even dots using a ruler like an even
square with a disappearing ink pen.
2. Using your disappearing marker, draw curved lines connecting dots as shown.
Now trace over the lines using your black Tulip Fabric Marker. You will use
the black fabric marker from now on (not the disappearing marker).
3. Form what is called a string or strings design, inside the shape. Mine is a
swoop and
then a zigzag shape near the bottom. Keep them
simple your first few tries.
4. Using a circle stencil template, draw solid black circles spaces 1/8" apart
within the largest area. Pressing a little firmer and drawing
slower gives you a wider line.
5. Draw an open curved strip (A) using two fine lines (use a lighter touch with the
marker, holding it straight up and down!) about 1/8" apart horizontally inside
the top shape. Now draw tiny football shapes (with points at the top and bottom
of the shape) with a fine touch once again, spaces about 1/4" apart (B). And
finally fill in the area between the football
shapes with the black marker(C).
6. Fill in the area above and below the strip with curved lines as shown,
beginning at least 1" away from the edge of the area.
7. Follow the zig-zag pattern making lines about 1/8" away from the original
string line until the area is full of zigzags. Notice some will be partial
zigzags as they are close to the edge of the doodle art. The numbers
show you the order you draw the lines.
8. Draw leaf shapes with stems turned in different directions, about 1/8" apart.
Fill in the space between the leaves and inside every other zigzag space solid black.
9. Fill in the area between the leaves with solid black.
You can follow the same steps for tennis shoes, hats, towels etc. Make sure
items are dry before drawing with markers.
