Scene i

That both Romeo and Tybalt killed him and they will both pay

6. What happens to Tybalt?
Romeo kills him

He tried to save Mercutio but instead killed him and Tybalt

8.Is Benvolio’s account of what happened accurate? Why or why not?
Yes, he told who killed whom and who started it. But he also made it sound a little better for Romeo.

Romeo is banished

10. Why do you think that the prince has not imposed the death penalty as he threatened in Act I?
Because he was related to Mercutio and Tybalt would’ve been killed anyway.

Scene ii
1. Describe Juliet’s mood according to her soliloquy in the beginning of the scene.
She is anxious for Romeo to come and the night to fall.

2. When the nurse enters she says, “ he’s gone, he’s killed, he’s dead.” Who does Juliet think is dead?
Romeo

3.How do Juliet’s words reflect her divided feelings?
Her husband killed her cousin; her wedding bed “should become her grave”

4. What is Juliet’s plan at the end of the scene?
She will go to her bed and die.

Scene iii 1.Where does Romeo go after he kills Tybalt?
To Friar Lawrence’s Cell

2. Why does Romeo think that banishment is worth than death?
Banishment is torture; at least there is no torture in death.

3.What description does the nurse give of Juliet?Why does he try to kill himself?
She just weeps and weeps. He tries to kill himself because they are both in so much pain

4.Explain Friar Lawrence’s plan for Romeo and Juliet to be together.
Romeo will go to Mantua, they will announce the marriage, and Romeo will be able to come back

For her cousin Tybalt

She needs to be happy, happiness comforts death.

Yes, between the parents and the children because the children are scared to tell the parents what they did.

1. In the beginning of this scene Romeo has come to visit Juliet’s bedchamber. How do they feel about each other now?
They love each other but they don’t know if they will see each other again

“…as one dead in the bottom of a tomb”

That she will marry Paris this Thursday

He says she will marry Paris or he will disown her.

To marry Paris, he is much better anyway.
