May 2007 Trash Talk
May Edition

Ok, the riding season is finally in full swing.  The Louie Run kicked off the month of May.  The weather was great for early May, and we had a lot of people show up for the breakfast and Denny's house and the ride.  After the ride about 8 of us went to the fairgrounds to check things out.  All in all it was a good day.

There are a lot of events and rides coming up between the time this gets posted and the end of June, so please keep an eye on the club calendar and join up in the members only posts that was created recently.  In the group post there is a lot of conversation going back and forth about different events and rides, so please log on and sign up if you haven't.

Also, check the webpage for where the next meeting will be held.  Don't forget meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  We are looking for a few good members to donate their homes for meeting locations.  If you are interested in hosting a meeting at your house, please send an e-mail to the Beat Trash account. Also, please submit a picture of your bike(s) to the Beat Trash account so we can post them on the web page.

March 2007 Trash Talk

Ok, yes this issue of Trash Talk is late, sorry....

Many of us would like to say "Thank You" to all the current members of Beat Trash.  Our group continues to grow in many different aspects, not just membership, but in other areas.  The other areas are able to develop due to the continued support of the members.  Without our members and the dues they pay, we cannot have this website or any of the future ideas for expanding our group.

What is up with this weather?  I am writing this on Easter, and looking out the window thinking "What the shit is up with this weather"?  I am hoping this will be the end of the snow, and some bike riding can be done!  Speaking of which in less than a month is the Louie Run (May 6), if you haven't done so already, try and get tickets before they sell out.  Hopefully Northeast Ohio's unoffical kick off to riding season won't follow in the footsteps of the Indians Home Opener.

The April meeting is coming up, April 10th.  Please check back to the website for the meeting place.  At this point, as I write this, I am not sure which member will be hosting the meeting, so check back for the place and the directions.

We are in the works of contacting vendors to get our logo made up for silk screening on T-shirts.  We will let you know when it goes through and when T-Shirts are available for purchase.  The idea of T-shirts is a good one.  It takes the place of having to wear the leathers on hot days, and also for just casual wear.

Not much else to talk about until this weather breaks so here is a list of some items coming up in April that was posted on Run Central News.

Thanks and Ride Safe!

T. Powalie
J.P. Leonard
B. Smith
B. Dodd
G. Thurier
M. Byers
B. Neath
J. Sharp

New member, Greg Thurier joined and attended his first meeting.  Welcome!!

We now have 27 total members that have paid their dues.  After paying R. Cueni for the website we still have 87 dollars leftover which will be used to get the t-shirts started.

The 2nd annual "Ride to the Hills" is going to leave July 30 and return August 2.  Please let R. Tuttle know asap if you plan on going.

The Louie Run is going to be on Sunday, May 6.  We will meet at Riverside High School in the morning and ride over to Denny's house.  This is going to be the last year for Denny's pre ride breakfast so try to attend.

Andrea reported that Western Reserve Harley is having a St. Patrick's day party on Sat. March 17 from 9am-5pm.  They are having corned beef and cabbage dinner from 11am-2pm and a blood drive from 10am-3pm.  They are also having clearance sales.

T-shirts are still in the works.  If anyone knows someone who does screen printing see about getting shirts made.  R. Tuttle checked with Promotional Printing and found that our patch has many colors in it.  The cost of the printing is based on each color.  The guy did not say how much but stated it would be very expensive to duplicate the patch.  R. Tuttle has to go back and see him for more information.  More prices from other companies would be a good thing.

Next months meeting will be April 10.  If anyone is interested in hosting the meeting please let us know.

Trash Talk - February

Riding Season, Is it coming soon?

Did that damn groundhog see his shadow or not?  I can't remember what he saw, but don't think he saw this past winter storm!  And to top it off, there is rumor of a serious warm up, get ready for the flooding!

Whatever Mother Nature brings us, we have to sit back and deal with it.  Spring, I think, is the hardest of all seasons.  In the summer, we are out riding, attending cookouts, and watching fireworks at whatever festival.  Autumn brings us cooler days and nights, reminding us to get as much riding in as possible because it will be winter time soon.  Winter brings us holiday season, New Years, and the Superbowl, and the snow lets us know there is no way in hell we are going to be out riding, so it is a pointless thought.  Spring is the bitch!

In the Spring we are tempted with days when the big "break in the weather" may occur, which invites riding season.  It is a long road to warm up, even when the snow is gone, it is still bitter cold.  Remember last years Louie Run?  It was freezing (first Sunday in May), I think when I left the house it was about 40 degrees, by the time I got on I-90 in Euclid, it was balls cold!  Spring really doesn't offer much flexibility, you take it as it comes, the rain, the salt riddled roads, mud, etc...  Hopefully the Spring will be a somewhat dry one and we can all get our bikes out and get the '07 riding season going!

Iron Ass Award

Please e-mail the Beat Trash account with your 2007 beginning mileage if you would like to participate.  Last years top rider had 7,441 miles.

March Meeting

The March Meeting will be held on March 13.  Please refer to the Members Page for times and directions.

Dues

Club dues should have been paid already, if you want to be in the club still and have not paid your $5.00 yearly due, please attend the March meeting or get the money to someone who is going to be there.  This deadline has been pushed back due to the February meeting being canceled due to the weather.  So, March is it, if you don't have it in by then, you will be taken off the e-mailing list and will no longer be considered a member.

Upcoming Events

****Louie Run****  Sunday May 6th, 2007.  In the past the group has met together at Riverside High School, we will continue this tradition.  Once everyone has arrived, we ride together to "Denny's" house where breakfast is served (donations accepted).  The breakfast is good and filling, and the atmosphere is great.  Denny and his neighbors open their neighborhood to bikers, I would say an easy 250-300 bikers are in and out throughout the morning.  After breakfast, Denny leads a nice escorted ride (complete with blocked intersections) for miles before ending at the Lake County Fairgrounds.  It would be great if we could have as many members for our club attend this event, this event is the official Northeast Ohio kick off to riding season, and it is rumored to be the last year Denny will be having his breakfast.  We will keep you posted as to times for this event.

No other events are on the horizon, please check back for the March edition of Trash Talk, or refer to the Beat Trash calendar on the website.

Beat Trash meeting minutes
January 9, 2007 at Stadium Grill
Members in attendace:
R. Tuttle
J. Sharp
A. Powalie
J. Venaleck
W. Smith
R. Cueni

19 members have paid their 5 dollar dues for the year.  The remaining know who they are and if you do not pay by the Feb. meeting you will be considered no longer interested or a member.

Members discussed changing around the meeting place.  All present members decided upon having our montly meetings at a different members house each month on a voluntary basis for the host.  This way we can move the meeting place around and change the ride routes around before the meeting.  Members could bring own beverages or throw in some cash to order food and have the host get beverages.

 R. Tuttle is going to check into getting Beat Trash T-shirts.  The idea is to have a shirt with a small logo on the front and a large logo on the rear of our patch.  This way the shirts could be worn in the summer and you would not have to wear a vest unless you want to.  More to come on this next meeting.

Start planning for the Louie Run which is May 6.  This is the last year Denny will be having his get together before the run.

The next meeting will at 1930 hrs. on February 13, 2007 at Tony Powalie's house.  Directions will be posted on the website soon.

Show up at the next meeting and keep the winter blues away by discussing motorcycles!!

Trash Talk- January Edition

Changes in the Club

  • We have instituted yearly dues of $5.  The money collected allow the club to run and operate the website, and to enter into new areas that will allow the club to grow and solidify.  The next item being looked into are T-shirts.  The T-shirts will allow members to ride in the summer without having to wear their leather vests with the colors on it.  Cost of T-shirt is still unknown, but it would be up to the member to purchase.
  • Monthly meetings will now be revolving to members homes who have volunteered to host the meetings.  This allows more privacy at meetings and also allows more options of ride time before and even after the meeting.  Please check the calendar in the members only area for dates, time, and location of the meetings.  Directions will be given to where the meetings are.

  • Please e-mail Russ to let him know if you are interested in going on the 2nd Annual Hocking Hills Get-a-Way.  It has been proposed to be held in August from the 27th through the 30th.  It was a great time.  Check out last years pictures on the website.

December 06 Meeting Minutes and trash talk

The Beat Trash December Meeting was held on Tuesday December 12th at the Stadium Grill.

All in attendance were:

JP Leonard
S. Gagliardi
C. Tackla
M. Byers
B. Neath

All members present paid their $5.00 for the year of 2007, along with M Neath,  who was unable to make it.

  • If you have not paid your $5.00 please either mail it to me, or bring to the January Meeting.  If you do not pay the annual $5.00 by February, e-mail contact will be cut off.  We are trying to make this a productive group and by not getting any responses, we are assuming people are no longer interested.  If you would like to stay active, get us the $5.00.  It is not much to pay and we are applying the money to improving communications and towards other group related items, so it isn't like we are trying to pad a bank account.

  • The Iron Ass Award will be given out in January.  If you are interested in throwing your name in the hat, please e-mail me how many miles you rode this past year.  If you would like to participate in it in 2007, please e-mail me your beginning mileage for the year of 2007.

  • B Neath advised that this year for the Police Memorial in Washington D.C., the Law Ride will come together with the Candle Light Vigil.  Bud rides on this quite frequently, so if you are interested, please let me know and I will link you up with Bud.
  • Reminder that the Hocking Hills trip is going to be sometime in August.  If you are interested, please let R Tuttle know.  We need to get some discussion going on this.  The original dates may change so if you are interested, please contact Tuttle to see what can be arranged.
  • Also, next week, Friday the 22nd, we talked about getting together for a Christmas type of gathering.  If interested please e-mail back.  We were thinking about BW-3.  No business to be discussed, but getting together as a group for the season.

The Next Beat Trash Meeting will be Tuesday, January 9th at 1930 hrs. at the Stadium Grill.  If attending, please bring your $5.00.  Thanks!  Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, etc. etc. etc.

Contact Beat Trash at Beattrash@yahoo.com Meetings are 2nd Tuesday of every month. Meet at 6:30pm at Lakeland Community College parking lot by Route 306 for a ride. Ride ends at Stadium Grill on Tyler Blvd. at approx. 7:30pm.

Staking Our Claim

It is official, we now have our own website.  Thanks to Ryan Cueni our club has started up Beattrash.com.  Ryan's work towards getting the website up and running has been great!  I know he has put up with many annoying e-mails from me asking if he can add this or that, and I thank him for his patience.

We have a page on the website dedicated to our bikes, so please submit to Ryan (iroscoi@sbcglobal.net) a picture of your bike.  Please refer to the website for all updates, info, Trash Talk, meeting minutes, and Calendar.  I will for a short period of time send out e-mails when new material is added, but hopefully everyone will bookmark the site and check back often.  Please refer to the Calendar of events, this will remind you of meeting time and date and any future runs, rides, events

Part of the $5.00 yearly dues is going towards this website, so hopefully those of you who have paid your dues can see a major step in the growth of our club.

Dues

If you have not heard yet, Beat Trash is now requiring yearly dues of $5.00.  Dues will be collected at meetings, events, or by other members.  The dues allow us to have the website, along with start up other ventures for the club.  The next idea we are going to expand on is T-shirts.  If you don't pay the $5.00 to the club by the February meeting, you will me considered "not interested", and left off any e-mails until paid in full.  We are not trying to weed people out, and we understand people can't make it to functions, meetings etc., but there are many people who don't even respond to e-mails who are part of the group.  So if you are still interested in being in the group, please get the $5.00 dues to someone you know who attends the meetings regularly.

Next Meeting
The next meeting is on January 9th at 7:30pm at the Stadium Grill.  Dues will be collected and business will be discussed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

November 06

The November Beat Trash Meeting was held last night at the Stadium Grill.  Members in attendance were:

Jay Sharp
JP Leonard and wife Andrea
Caroline Tackla
Steve Gagliardi
Joel Gayer (And he even rode his bike!!)

Starting in January we will be initiating a $5 a year fee.  This fee will go towards paying for a website for our group and start up costs to get T-shirts made.  The $5 will be either collected at the first meeting members attend in 2007 or you can mail a check or money order to me:

Steve Gagliardi
155 E.213th St. Euclid, Ohio 44123

As said before this will be due every January.  The fee is needed to cover costs of the group growing.  Hopefully with a web-site it will allow better communication to our members.  The $5 will also keep you in good standing.

JP Leonard will be contacting the Patriot Guard to sign Beat Trash up as a group willing to participate with their cause.  So far I have heard interest from JP, Bud, Joel, and myself.  If you are interested respond to this e-mail and I will forward to JP.  The Patriot Guard info was included in a past edition of Trash Talk, if you need it again, let me know.

Next Meeting will be December 12, 2006 at 7:30pm at the Stadium Grill.

October Runs

Not much out there. Have not had any news regarding any runs. Looks like the A run@ season is over.

Beat Trash October MeetingY

The October meeting for Beat Trash will be on Tuesday October, 10. Once again we will be meeting at 1830 hrs. at the parking lot off of Rt. 306 at Lakeland College to go on hour long ride (weather permitting), which will end approx. at 1930 hrs., at the Stadium Grill on Tyler Blvd., just West of Rt. 615. If you are going on the ride, please try to be at the college a couple minutes before 1830 hrs. If it is a nice day (i.e. Sun is shining, we will have a ride, so bring cool weather gear!) Like previously mentioned, if there is bad weather, just assume ride is cancelled and meet at Stadium Grill.

Day Time Ride

We will determine the date and time for the Day Time Ride at the October meeting. The day time ride allows members who are on other shifts or those who are not able to make it to the ride the night of the meeting to get together and ride.
