YES THERE IS A LARGE CONNECTION BETWEEN DRUGS AND MYSTICISM BECAUSE WHEN PEOPLE ARE DOING DRUGS ARE DESCRIBING THERE EXPERIENCES THEY TEND TO USE A LARGE AMOUNT OF MYSTICAL AND RELIGIOUS REFERENCES. 13.As far as I can see the ultimate truth is God and so in my personal opinion man can know the ultimate truth if he or she has their relationship with God in order and of he or she has a good relationship with God. This relationship can be obtained through many different means some of which six famous philosophers thought were necessary to know the ultimate truth or to even see the ultimate truth. One day a very long time ago Six very famous philosophers were all sitting around a table discussing whether or not man could know the ultimate truth. There conversation never got really heated and was always maintained in an adult manner. Buddha, Socrates, Plato, Nietzsche, St. Augustine, Hume were all sitting there and this is how their conversation went. Buddha: Can you believe the whether were having? Socrates: Quit making small talk and just get to the point. Lets talk about what we are here to talk about. Plato: So what does everybody think, can man know the ultimate truth? Nietzsche: How in the world can man know the ultimate truth, if there is no ultimate truth to believe in? Buddha: Where do you come off making a comment like that? Nietzsche: I am only stating the known truth. St. Augustine: Well what do you mean there is no ultimate truth to believe in? Nietzsche: There is no God so how can anyone believe in a God if there is no God to believe in. Catch my drift. Hume: No, but I have to agree with you I don’t think man can know the ultimate truth because we can never know the truth because the truth is always changing. Buddha: Well not to contradict what you are saying or anything I think man can know the ultimate truth, but he can only find this through meditation and it can not be found by theorizing of speculating. Hume: Well what if a person does not feel like meditating then how do they know or learn the ultimate truth? Buddha: Then they just cant know the ultimate truth because it has to be found through meditation. St. Augustine: I have to say I partly agree with Buddha. But only to the extent of man can know the ultimate truth. I feel that the only way man can know the ultimate truth is through faith. If a person does not have faith in anything or anyone he will never be able to achieve the knowledge of the ultimate truth. Nietzsche: Well isn’t that just like meditation because meditation is a part of their faith? St. Augustine: I guess in some ways that is true. Hume: So Plato we have not heard what you think yet, are you going to enlighten us with you views? Plato: Sure. I think that the only way man can know the ultimate truth is through reasoning. We use reasoning in every aspect of life. So it is really the only way for man to achieve the knowledge of the ultimate truth. Socrates: Oh I see. Nietzsche: Well Socrates what do you think? Socrates: I believe that the only way man can learn the ultimate truth is through a spiritual manner. It can not be achieved by using the senses it must be achieved by using the soul. Buddha: That is partly true because when you meditate you are using you soul. So take what you want from this story some philosophers say that man can know the ultimate truth while at the same time others say that man can not know the ultimate truth. 14. LSD WAS SO IMPORTANT TO THE WORK OF STANSLOV GROF BECAUSE HE LIKED LEARNING FROM EXPERIENCE AND HIS STUDIES USING THE HALLUCIGENIC DRUG HELPED HIM TO SEE THE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG IN ALL HIS PATIENTS. 15. KANTS MOST SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO PHILOSOPHY IS PROBABLY HIS BOOK "CRITIQUE OF PURE REASON". IN THIS BOOK KANT TALKS ABOUT RATIONALISM AND EMPIRICSM. KANT DIVIDES JUDGEMENTS INTO TWO CATEGORIES, ANALYTICAL AND SYNTHETIC, AND A PRIORI AND A POSTERIORI. IN ORDER FOR A JUDGEMENT TO BE EMPIRICAL IT MUST BE SYNTHETIC BUT A PRIORI JUDGEMENTS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EXPERIENCE KANT FELT IN AN ACTION IS PERFORMED WITHIN MORAL LAW IT SHOULD BE A UNIVERSAL LAW. HE ALSO SAYS FAITH EXPLAINS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MORAL FREEDOM AND NATURE. KANT BELIEVES THERE IS A GOD AND THAT FAITH PLAYS A PART IN LIFE.
