History of the Phantom, From Literature to Big-Screen





1911 - Gaston Leroux publishes "The Phantom of the Opera." By combining fact with fiction(the chandelier really did fall, killing a patron, and there really was a skeleton discovered in the cellars of the opera house), he created a classic story of love turned to deadly obsession, thus ensuring his fame for generations to come.It was, at first, dismissed by most and given so-so reviews until Great Britian and the United States began to carry it.
