SECTION C - REFLECTIVE PRACTICE PLAN

Candidates must complete this detailed plan for the mentor’s approval. Approval modifications must be shown.


PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  1. Give an overview of the Developmental approach to Leadership and Supervision.
  2. Discuss the underlying principles of knowledge, interpersonal skills and technical skills.
  3. Describe the principles of nondirective, collaborative and directive supervision models. Relate them to the role of the Department Head.
  4. Develop a clear, coherent and brief questionnaire that is relevant to approaches concerning leadership roles.
  5. Reflect and report on my supervisory style and how it might affect staff development in my department.
  6. Briefly describe the career ‘life cycle’ of a teacher and how a supervisor can guide this cycle.
  7. Evaluate my personal and professional growth while examining this project.
  8. Select and use specific and relevant evidence from a close reading of research to support arguments.
  9. Communicate information with a high degree of clarity and confidence.
  10. Use an appropriate variety of print styles in my written work.
  11. Proofread and edit my own work.


PROJECT ACTIVITIES

  1. Write a 6 –8 page report, including footnotes and bibliography.
  2. Produce a questionnaire, to be completed by a secondary school principal, concerning leadership roles and responsibilities. (Pending Principal’s ability to participate in this activity)
  3. Provide a set of concrete steps to aid a first year teacher attain comfort and security with their new position.


Completion Dates

This RPP will be completed by the due date, July 31/03. The synopsis, including reflection, will be completed and submitted by the due date, August 13/03.
