SECTION C - REFLECTIVE PRACTICE PLAN
Candidates must complete this detailed plan for the mentor’s approval. Approval modifications must be shown.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
- Give an overview of the Developmental approach to Leadership and Supervision.
- Discuss the underlying principles of knowledge, interpersonal skills and technical skills.
- Describe the principles of nondirective, collaborative and directive supervision models. Relate them to the role of the Department Head.
- Develop a clear, coherent and brief questionnaire that is relevant to approaches concerning leadership roles.
- Reflect and report on my supervisory style and how it might affect staff development in my department.
- Briefly describe the career ‘life cycle’ of a teacher and how a supervisor can guide this cycle.
- Evaluate my personal and professional growth while examining this project.
- Select and use specific and relevant evidence from a close reading of research to support arguments.
- Communicate information with a high degree of clarity and confidence.
- Use an appropriate variety of print styles in my written work.
- Proofread and edit my own work.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
- Write a 6 –8 page report, including footnotes and bibliography.
- Produce a questionnaire, to be completed by a secondary school principal, concerning leadership roles and responsibilities. (Pending Principal’s ability to participate in this activity)
- Provide a set of concrete steps to aid a first year teacher attain comfort and security with their new position.
Completion Dates
This RPP will be completed by the due date, July 31/03. The synopsis, including reflection, will be completed and submitted by the due date, August 13/03.
