Cartoon 1
- The patient is America and has an awful lot of injuries. His
bandages are shown to represent the Depression and Banking Crisis for
example.
- The doctor is Roosevelt, it is his job to cure America.
- The cartoon shows us that it will be a difficult job for Roosevelt but the
title claims that if people believe in him he can succeed. The fact
that both patient and doctor are smiling shows us that they have confidence
in each other and people think Roosevelt will do a good job.
Cartoon 2
- Americans are happy with Roosevelt, you can tell this by the smile on the
customers face whilst Roosevelt is serving him.
- The cartoon also tells us why people are happy. First of all they
have been given what they want very quickly. The picture shows
Roosevelt zooming along at great speed.
- Secondly the people are no longer hungry (pasta) and can drink beer (end
of prohibition) now that Roosevelt is looking after them.
