GTUK Helston

Helston G.T.U.K club is part of the world wide International Taekwon-do Federation. Our aim in the club is to teach amongst other things the Korean art of self defence.  After your basic training you will take your first grading, these come around once every three months. At each grading you will receive a G.T.U.K. magazine supplied to each student that takes the grading also a higher grade belt if you pass. In the magazine there are stories, tournament results and news from your fellow students from all over the UK. Throughout your training you will have the opportunity to take part in various tournaments and show off your newly learned skills, at the same time you can meet members from other clubs and make new friends. You will be required to apply for a British Taekwon-do Council licence, this will be your liability Insurance enabling you to also train at any B.T.C registered G.T.U.K. club and take part in any tournaments that are held by any Taekwon-do organisations that are members of the B.T.C. We also organise and hold different events throughout the year for example, at Christmas we have a dinner and dance for the seniors and a Christmas party for the little ones. Other events may be to take part locally in demonstrations this could be at your school or a fair. The training can be great fun and you will gain confidence, flexibility, fitness, and learn self defence. One of the things we ask is that you respect higher grades and seniors, also to show courtesy to others. This respect goes a long way. One day you may seek the same respect from lower grades and younger students.  Wear loose jogging bottoms and a T- shirt until you pass your first grading. We prefer to wait until the student has passed his or her first grade before they purchase a dobok (suit) or sparring gear. When the time comes please see your Instructor / s for purchase details.
