BMW R25/3 Projects

Welcome to page 5! Now that the Harley is finished I am moving on to other projects. I have recently returned from Hungary where my friend Doug and I went to procure some antique motorcycles and sidecars. I have always liked the looks of the Antique Beemers, but until now have never owned one. While in Hungary I found a set of two BMW R25/3s that my friend Sandor had for sale. One is a 1953 and the other is a 1954. I decided to purchase the pair and restore them as a matching set for my wife and I to ride. I hope you will enjoy watching this project progress almost as much I enjoy getting to do it. Check back often, I will try to post updates when I can.

Though they are getting harder to find, nice antique motorcycles can be found for sale in Eastern Europe.

Sidecar machines can still be found in Eastern Europe. They are more of a rarity in the US. Here Doug is test driving an Ihz-49 that he just bought. Its a 1950s Russian copy of a German DKW 350cc 2-stroke. Kill them skeeters Doug!

This is how the R25 looked when I found it in Sandor's barn in Hungary. In this photo Sandor and his brother Peter are doing some electrical work to get it running. You can see the 54 Beemer in the background.
