Australia is multicultural society. This means that people from many different countries live together peacefully. Cultural festivals give people from different backgrounds a chance to celebrate and share their culture with the rest of Australia.  People in countries all over the world hold festivals to celebrate their way of life. In fact the world festivals mean ‘a time of celebration.’ There are hundreds of shows and festivals around Australia every year. Although each event is different, they all involve people working together and sharing their talents with the wider community.

Teacher’s Note: The purpose of this site was to create a resource based centre of online information that students can actively engaged in various aspects of the unit, which is based on knowing about other nations and their unique cultures and festivals they celebrate and of our own. The unit aims to develop a greater appreciation of cultural diversity we have in Australia. Teachers and students are encouraged to utilise the various features that this site offers including an online forum and emailing services to be able communicate to other teachers and students from around the world and share aspects of their cultures to others. Teacher may also find that throughout this site it contains certain instructions to navigate and utilise this site according to the appropriateness for students, and to lessen inappropriate issues associated when navigating through the World Wide Web.
