My name is Amanda Swann. I am a native of
the Utah Valley having spent about 8 years in the Silicon Valley of Northern
California. I have been interested in communications ever since I can remember.
I was on my high school newspaper staff and interned with UDOT. As
I strive towards my goals, I know public relations is an area I want to
be in.
As a communications major with an emphasis in public relations, I have been able to develop strong writing skills, an attention to detail, and an ability to meet deadlines. By being involved with various public relations professionals and organizations, I have developed a great enthusiasm for public relations. I am very excited to be able to learn and grow in my knowledge about it. I am currently the PRSSA University of Utah Student Chapter President, with past experience as the Director/Secretary. The PRSSA is a great organization for those interested in public relations. Please feel free to visit the national PRSA website at www.prsa.org.My experience as Membership Director/Secretary in PRSSA has provided me with excellent organization and time-management skills and has made me more resourceful, creative, and dedicated. I was able to increase membership from one to thirty by organizing booths so students can get more information, posting flyers about meetings and events, and creating handouts and letters to show the benefits of joining PRSSA. I also organized and planed monthly membership meetings by notifying members, planning speakers, organizing refreshments, creating newsletters and membership packets for members to use.
