Formed in 1879 the small west midlands club then known as Wellington Town until 1969 when the new town of Telford was designated and Telford United where born.
The clubs most memorable moment was an FA Cup showdown against champion’s of the time Everton at Goodison Park 47,000 people watched Telford lose 3-0 12,000 of whom supporting the Bucks. The clubs biggest Honours are there three FA Trophy wins, which is a record, also their Southern League, win which gave them Conference status. In the 1999/00 season Telford were only saved from relegation due to financial difficulties for the promoted club. This urged the club to revamp the stadium and bring back former manager to give the club a real chance of League Football. On a Championship Manager 4 front Telford United are an interesting club to manage, a good stadium with low ground maintenance. Telford’s best players include classy Irish central midfielder Gary Fitzpatrick at 30 is the midfield general with good mental stat’s. Wolverhampton born Steve Palmer is an attacking midfielder used on the left wing or in a more central role, which is what he is best suited for with his aggressive flair play. Finally former Manchester United man David Brown is a good asset up front for the Bucks, not the best finisher but at this level he can bag a few. Overall Taking over Telford United will be a difficult job and there is no guarantee of promotion but the foundations are there and you need to put the work in to make the lads from New Bucks Head a force to reckon with in England.
