Predator


The Predator is similar to humans in appearance and demeanor; highly intelligent, well-equipped, and technologically advanced. He serves as the medium between Alien and Marine. Faster than a Marine but stronger than an Alien, the Predator makes for a dangerous enemy.

The Pred is capable of both long and close range attacks, but fares better with long distanced ones. His Wristblades can deal some damage to enemies up close, and the Speargun can kill enemies instantly. The Disc also is a fatal weapon. The Predator also uses the energy-based Plasma Pistol and Shoulder Cannon as weapons. In AvP2 the Predator is even better equipped, with the Combistaff melee weapon, Netgun, and Remote Bombs.

Not only does the Pred come equipped with plenty of weapons, but he also has tracking devices. He has several different "visions" he can use. Thermal vision tracks Marines and turns them into rainbow coloured clowns. Electromagnetic Spectrum can make Aliens very easy to spot. Ultraviolet, or Predtech, makes other Preds clearly visible, even if they are cloaked. Predators also come equipped with a cloaking device, which makes them invisible to Marines (but not to Aliens, as your pheromones give you away). He is also equipped with a Medicomp, which you can use to heal yourself. In AvP2 he also has an Energy Sift for recharging energy, and a charge emitter for hacking into primative human security systems.

Weapons
Wristblades (AvP & AvP2)



This is the Predator's close-range weapon, and can be an effective weapon for an experienced Predator. The secondary attack for the Wristblades is charged, and is how you get trophies from dead foes. In AvP2 you can attack using your Wristblades and remain cloaked.

Combistaff (AvP2)


This weapon is similar to the Wristblades, although perhaps a bit more powerful, and a little more difficult to attack with. You can attack using the Combistaff and remain cloaked. Also, using the secondary fire button lets you use a downward slash attack that will kill weaker foes.

Speargun (AvP & AvP2)



Unlike most of the Predator's weapons, this one runs off its own ammo. You CANNOT find any ammo to replenish it in AvP, but the ammo will automatically refill at the start of each level. In AvP2, you can find additional ammo for the Speargun in certain levels, and can also retrieve the spears. The Speargun is a highly effective weapon if you are able to aim well. A good hit to the chest or head will kill both Aliens and Marines (often times with humourous results). Be careful with Aliens however, as they can be quite fast. The secondary fire in AvP2 shoots three spears simultaneously.

Pistol (AvP & AvP2)



This weapon has a high splash rate, which means it will hurt the enemy even if you don't score a direct hit. It is very effective against Aliens, especially groups of them, but not as well against Marines. Be careful, as you can hurt yourself if you shoot it at too close a range. In AvP2, the secondary fire launches three balls of plasma at once.

Shoulder Cannon/Plasmacaster (AvP & AvP2)



If you have your vision mode set to the appropriate enemy, the Shoulder Cannon will track for you. If you hold the secondary attack button, it will charge up the attack. It is semi-effective against Aliens and Marines.

Disc (AvP & AvP2)



Many players agree that the Disc is cheap, and most people restrict its use. If you play as the Predator in a multiplayer game, you should not use it; people tend to boot you if you do. If you can hit your enemy, you kill them instantly, and its supply is infinite, provided you have enough energy to recall it. Also, special vision modes allow the Disc to track a target.

Netgun (AvP2)


The Netgun has its own ammo, like the Speargun, and in some levels you can find additional ammo for it. It shoots a net, trapping your enemy, however they can break free if given enough time. This doesn't work on larger targets like Praetorians and Queens. You can stay cloaked while using it. Once you shoot a net, you cannot retrieve it (like spears or the Disc).

Remote Bomb (AvP2)


The Remote Bombs are a powerful weapon, but not really good against regular enemies. They are best against slow, powerful enemies like Exosuits and Queens. The primary fire throws one, and the secondary fire detonates it. You can remain cloaked while using them as well.

Specialties
Grappling Hook (AvP)
The Grappling Hook can only be used in certain Bonus Missions. It allows you to reach very high ledges.

Thermal Vision (AvP & AvP2)


You use this vision mode to see Marines clearly. It also tracks them if you are using the Shoulder Cannon/Plasmacaster. In AvP2, you must have your Mask to be able to use this vision mode.

Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision (AvP & AvP2)


Predators use this to make Aliens very visible. In AvP2, you must have your Mask to be able to use this vision mode.

Ultraviolet/Predtech Vision (AvP & AvP2)


Use this to spot other Predators. This is helpful because you can see them even if they are cloaked. For some reason this vision mode is not as good in AvP2 as it was in AvP. In AvP2, you must have your Mask to be able to use this vision mode.

Medicomp (AvP & AvP2)



You can use this to heal yourself. It takes up about half of your energy, so make sure you are somewhere secluded so you can regenerate, or that you are near an energy source (in AvP).

Energy Sift (AvP2)


This device recharges your energy. The only downside to using it is that you can't run while using it, and it also generates a lot of light and noise, which may give your position away.

Cloaking Field Generator (AvP & AvP2)



This handy little jobbie will make you invisible! It takes up very little energy (but uses more if you are moving around). The cloak is not perfect however... Marines can see you if the light falls on you a certain way or you make noise or draw attention to yourself by taking trophies. Predators can see you bright as day IF they are looking at you in Ultraviolet/Predtech vision. Aliens can see you clearly with or without the cloak. In AvP you cannot use any weapons without deactivating your cloak. In AvP2, you can use the Wristblades, Combistaff, Speargun, and Remote Bombs while still remaining cloaked.

Charge Emitter (AvP2)


The charge emitter can be used to short circuit primative human security systems. It requires no energy to use.

Accessories
Energy Source (AvP & AvP2)


This will replenish your energy supply quickly. Stand near one and use your Medicomp, then take it and you'll be back to full health and energy!
