THE UNREAL RECORDINGS & HISTORY - SO FAR

1963

”INTRODUCIN’ THE UNREAL GROUP - THE WAY WE SEE IT”

A new censored version of the album was released in the States under the name ”THE FABULOUS NEW SOUND FROM THE UNREAL GROUP - THE WAY WE SEE IT”

In November they released their follow-up

1964

In April ”THE UNREAL GROUP A GO GO - THE WAY WE SEE IT”

was released. It was their first album to show off their fascination with motor-bikes and go-go dancing. Incl.”Wroom Wroom Go Go Bikini”.

Later the same year they released their first fiasco album

According to later interviews the band didn’t have the time to write the material they needed and had to record tunes written by others, ex. Kenny Greütz & Mein Faterland Slim, while touring South America. It sold 1,500 copies worldwide. Incl.”Walking On The Sunshine”.

1965

Klicka för stor bild i nyare fönster! ”THE SWINGING, SINGING UNREAL GROUP RECORD SESSION -THE WAY WE SEE IT” released in January 1965, saved the groups reputation. For this album they called in their big brother Toadal I. Unreal to help them form the now world famous ”UnrealSound”™. Incl.”Spit-Spat Said The English Cat”.

In September the group surprised the world by releasing the album
Klicka för stor bild i nyare fönster! ”UNMASKED - THE WAY WE SEE IT” on the cover of wich they appeared in masks. It was later said that the masks symbolised their grief of, their brother & mentor, Toadal’s move to Micronesia to work on a rubber plantation. Incl.”Peek-A-Boo Babe, To-The-Loo Mayb’”.

1966

The decision was made to record the next album
”BONGO BONGO - THE WAY WE SEE IT”in Micronesia with brother Toadal as the producer. The record features Johhny, Mackie & Otto while Tony decided to quit the group and go live in the Hollywood Hills with Charles Manson but unfor-tunatly couldn’t find him. Incl.”Conga Galore”.

1966 also saw the release of The Unreal Group’s backing singers The UnRealettes tribute album to their employers
”THE UNREALETTES - THE WAY WE SEE IT” . An album full of lovingly recorded Unreal songs. Incl.”Mama Made Me Zee Zee Rider”.

1967

”UNREAL FOR REAL”, Tony’s freaky soloalbum from `67 depicts his frustration of not finding Manson in L.A. and at the same time taking various substances together with the members of The Beach Boys. Incl.”Shot Away Today Here In L.A.”.

However, after the summer of love the brothers finally succeded in talking the stray brother Tony into returning to the group ranks. The resulting album was a compromise in that they let Tony produce it. The title was ”L.S.D. - THE WAY WE SEE IT” and featured the artwork of J.R.R. Tolkien & Timothy Leary. Incl.”Subterranean Overground Baby”.

1968

In´68 they all bought Harley Davidsons’ and travelled to Detroit to record the hard rockin’ ”EASY RIDIN’ - THE WAY WE SE IT”. And they certainly were back in good rockin’ form.
Incl.”Groovin’ Moovin’ & Pumpin’ Gas”.

1969

Although the differences in the group seemed to be all solved Johnny, Mackie & Tony finally let Otto off for a year to fulfill his political ambitions instigating the Chicago riots. The following album is an Unreal Group album in all but the name. ”JOHNNY,MACKIE & TONY” is a classic though the high-pitch whines of Otto is sorely missed . Incl.”We Missed Woodstock This Year (But We Sure As Hell Won’t Next)”.

1970 ”UNLEASHED - THE WAY WE SEE IT”, the come-back of the original line-up is rightly considered a milestone in rock history. Not only for it’s explicit album cover art but also for being the first rock music (if not any kind of music) quadruppel-album. Each record is dedicated to each members sexual weaknesses. Although it’s enormous length (nearly 100 minutes) it hasn’t got one single dull moment and is still today regarded as an orgasmic experience. Incl.”Otto Tells All About His Experiences”.

1971 The one who really got hooked on the sex-God-image was Johnny who in
`71 released ”SEX MACHINE - LIVE AT THE APOLLO”, recorded live at the
Apollo in Harlem before an entirely Chinese-speaking audience. This
record is jokingly referred to by the other members of the group as
”Johnny’s soultrip”.
Incl.”Spotlight On Sammy Davis”.

1972

1973

1974
This year the group decided to do an experiment, to record an foreign
language album. ”PROVSKIVA - THE WAY WE SEE IT” is sung entirely in
Swedish, a language Tony picked up during his acid-trip days and
subsequently learned the rest of the group over the years. Naturally the
album didn’t get far in the Billboard but reached no.5 in the swedish
charts. Mackie was cited at the time ”...our next album will be in
Hungarian...”.
Incl.”Borta När Bil Också Gråt”.

1975
The Unreal Group had been refused too many times trying to write music
for films, so in 1975 they compiled all their film-music and released it
as ”ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK RECORDINGS - THE WAY WE SEE IT”.
Incl.”Friday Day’s Beaver (reprise)”.

1976

1977
Never the ones to jump bandwagons the group decided anyway to cash in on
the punk movement. ”I mean, we were referred to as the grand-fathers of
punk long before the fathers of punk were even playing Bar-Mitzwahs”
Otto said at the time. ”FUCK YOU TOO...& YOU TOO -THE WAY WE FUCKIN’ SEE
IT” is the ultimate punk-album. ”It’s soooo punk it’s almost not” said
Melody Maker at it’s release. For this one the boys used their punk
stage names on the self made cover; Snotty (Johnny), Potty (Mackie),
Dyrty (Tony) & Arthur (Otto).
Incl.”Otto’s Been Sick All Over Grandma’s Persian Rug, Again”.

1978

1979

1980
In 1980 the group moved to New York and started collaborating with the
Apples top-artistes at Andy Warhol’s old lodgings The Factory. The
resulting album ”ART - THE WAY WE SEE IT” is an astonishing example of
”art noveaux” and piss painting. Robert Raushenberg made the now world
famous cover; a plastic bag containing the urine of all four members of
the group, coloured to the different nuances of the boys astrological
signs, and of course an LP of, although not very easy listening,
classical music sounds.
Incl.”Preparations For An Example Of Said Standards Pt.III”.

1981

1982
Otto was always considered the restless soul of the group. So while the
others sat back on their ranches in East Colorado Otto made his way to
L.A. where he recorded his first solo album with the help of the citys
best known studio mucisians. The resulting album simply entitled ”OTTO”
let the audience in on Otto’s musical visions of the time and is
regarded as the ultimate west-coast classic.
Incl.”If You Want My Love, I Might Consider Giving You Half Of It”.

1983
The smoothness and commercial success of Otto’s solo album quickly
inspired the rest of the guys to start writing again. Mackie had hanged
out with various members of Motörhead drinking lager and snorting speed
and therefore insisted on recording a metal album. ”METALMORFOSIS - THE
WAY WE SEE IT” is dark, hard and heavy. So heavy, in fact, that most
people’s pick-ups’ couldn’t stand the pressure from the grooves of the
album and consequently skid off the turntable in sheer horror. This
album therefore is regarded as the most bought/least heard album of all
time. Since it hasn’t been released on CD as yet not many people know
what it sounds like.
Probably incl.”Brutus Putus Fatus Morgana”.

1984

1985

1986

1987

1988
”ABBA - THE WAY WE SEE IT” a cheap, in Unreal Group meassures,
buy-in/sell-out from a band by now so lost in Spanish brandy that they
even considered renaming themself Les Hermanos Unreal.
Incl.”The Summer Of `69”.

1989

1990
”ON THE ROAD - LIVE - THE WAY WE SEE IT” captured the 1989 - `90 tours
in a bravado way. Containing all the hits and even Tony’s motorcycle
solo in ”Easy Ridin’”. It put The Unreal Group back on the american
charts this year.
Incl.”Never Gonna Let You Down” w.special guest Rick Astley.

1991

1992
With no new material to release the record company put out the greatest
hits collection ”GOLD - THE WAY WE SEE IT” along with the 8-CD
retrospective ”ARCHIVEOLOGY - THE WAY THE RECORD COMPANY SEES IT” to
much avail. The single CD sold 16,000,000 copys world wide.
The boxed set contained out-takes, b-sides, demo’s, live recordings,
lesser known album tracks and inter-groupal discussions recorded,
unbeknownst to the group, by Otto throughout the years. Of course the
band refused to relese any of the material from the legendary
”Metalmorfosis” session on any of these compilations.

”UNKOMMON, NOT VERY UNIK, WOKALIZING - ZE WAY WE SEE IT” must be
regarded as a modern day classic. Recorded in Cologne (Köln), Germany
during 1999 and 2000 it’s The Unreal Group’s millenium tribute and
incorporates modern day technology as well as vintage sounds not heard
since the groups mid-60’s output.
Incl.”Wolfgang, du bißt vörückt”.
