Kitnhevn, Inc: What Does Our Organization Do?

KitnHevn takes purebred cats, purebred mixes,or any cat that is a purebred look-alike from Northeast Florida area shelters before they are euthanized. We test them for felv/fiv, ensure that they are spayed or neutered and current on worming, FVRCP (distemper) and rabies shots. (We do not recommend or administer felv, fiv or fip vaccines as we believe they are non essential for an indoor only cat, and that the health risks associated with these vaccines may outweigh the benefits.)

Our cats are groomed, bathed, have their nails trimmed, and are given a topical flea control treatment. Our cats are housed in foster homes so that they can be a part of a family and we can better evaluate their personalities & preferences in a future forever home.

Our founder, the late Tani Scott, was well known for her tireless work with orphaned kittens. We no longer take orphaned kittens, but the work that Tani did is continued in the form of an e-mail list, where you can gain the expert advice of orphaned kitten specialists, so that you can raise your orphaned kittens. If this is your reason for visiting us, please click on Tani's Orphan Corner, where you will also find a subscribe button to join the Orphan care e-mail list.

If your visit is for the purpose of finding a home for your own cat, you may find helpful links on our links page.
