The Forest Liberation Organization (FLO) is composed of individuals who are committed to the preservation of their rights as American citizens to use and enjoy all government-managed public lands. They are joined together by their shared interests in outdoor recreation. The FLO takes the position that, in a true democracy, public lands should not be exclusively managed by bureaucrats. Instead, management should be guided and directed by the very people whose life, liberty and pursuit of happiness is affected by land management policies.
The FLO does not receive funds from or have affiliations with any political action groups or commercial interests. The FLO does not accept monetary donations, and relies entirely upon courageous volunteers for its efforts. Anyone who uses the National Forests or BLM lands for recreation or other personal activities, and is willing to protest the unlawful closures of public lands through various acts of civil disobedience, is encouraged to participate in the Forest Liberation Organization.
Many National Forest and BLM roads, trails and campgrounds have been closed, and most of these closures have been enacted without following legally required procedures. Many of these closures violate our federally mandated RS-2477 Rights-of-Way.
The Forest Liberation Organization takes the position that any fences, gates or signs closing off areas to public access that have been put in place without proper compliance with all existing laws and regulations are illegal, and citizens are therefore within their rights to remove them by whatever means are necessary.
