It's 4:20 time or close enough to it! . The Long Beach Dub guys are here and ready for yer questions. So ask away!" . LA River-guest says: The band gives off a pretty strong "tough" vibe. That isn't to say that you're not about a good time - so...tell us about some "sensitive" sides to the band? Anyone have a teddy bear on the tour bus etc.? Thanks! LA River Ras1: I have a Furby. Opie: We all have, well, a lot of us have kids and stuff, so that's pretty sensitive right there. Bud: Speak for yourself, I don't have no kids! * das_klown_ca says: i want to be part of the skunk team and i am a big skunk family promoter, what kind of sound or level of vibes can we expect from the new album and are there any collaborations with dangr or barrington levy on the new album? Bud: The new album hasn't been really started yet. Marshall: I hope that Dangr can be on the next album, but there's a solo album he'll probably have out about the same time. * son_goku36 says: I wanted to know if you guys have trouble thinking of song lyrics and music, and was it hard to get everybody together to put out your record considering that you're made up of all different bands. Opie: No problem with coming up with ideas. Bud and Eric and Marshall are always coming up with new ideas. Bud: What's an idea? It's an electrical charge. It has no bearing in this court of law! Ras1: I would like to say that all stuff that comes from everyday life, we've all seen a lot, and have a lot to write about. * itsok2sk8 says: Hey! You guys were great at Jamboree in Chicago last weekend. I was wondering, does Lou Dog travel with you guys? Jack: Louie is with us today, he's not on the planes because he's not much of a flying dog. * labratt82 says: Jack, Opie, RAS1, and Tim: What bands were you in prior to LBDAS? Were there any recordings/demos? Ras1: I was in Ja Children and All Day, and I recorded with both bands. * smokeylopez-guest says: long beach dub all/is it hard to go places and kick back,do fans bug you when your in public? Opie: I was in a band with Jack Maness called the Opie and Jack Band. Tim: I was in a band called Pocket Lint, a local Long Beach band. Jack: I was in a band called Shotgun Fling, we got really drunk and tried to play music. Marshall: Numerous bands throughout my life, Backlash, Frija, Garble Brat * LTrain138 says: Ok Dubs, what is your favorite city you've played in? Opie: It would have to be Amsterdam. Miguel: Redway, California. Bud: Long Beach Ras1: I say Compton, California. Jack: In Switzerland, because we got to eat lamb, and couscous. Marshall: Prague. * johnnydeelux says: opie..i see with a lot of tatoos and was wondering if you are a tatoo artist or sell your art? {tatoo or cover art} and where i can get a hold of it or what parlor?..thanks JON Opie: You can go get a tattoo at your local tattoo shop. Thank you! * bigmac-guest says: Was the writing/composing/performing process for Right Back different than earlier SUBLIME albums, and was it hard to create a new sound without straying totally from the traditional Sublime style, or did the music just grow and adapt to more contemporary music Bud: The basic chemistry for writing the music still pretty much stayed the same. Actually it was a bit different in the fact that we set out to go and record songs, you know, writing, and yet it was basically the same idea, and then it did grow into something on its own from all of the influences of the new members. * bigmac-guest says: Of all the Sublime songs, why does Saw Red appear on Right Back ? Marshall: Because we re-did it. Miguel: We didn't really pre-conceive to do it. We worked with Barrington Levy on many songs, and that one sort of came out the best, and his management wanted to use it and they did, [CCCalamity] +mnt-i [CCCalamity] +l 55 and when it came time to bring out our record, it came out so well we brought it back, as a Sublime cover song. * Gaaaaab says: For Bud and Eric: How long have u guys been playing together. Not just sublime, lbda or juice bros, but before that. thanx guys -Gab Bud: 1979. * dori5446 says: How did Opie lose his 2 front teeth? [CCCalamity] +mnt-i [CCCalamity] +l 75 Opie: It was Rocktober 31st, and we were jamming out, and I'm getting some new ones. Bold ones. * theziggens-guest says: This question is for Miguel and Eric. I play bass in a reggae/punk band called Free Beer. You got any recomendations for like a 4, 6, or 8 track mixer for a reasonable price? Got any recording or bassline writing tips? Miguel: Change your name! I'm going to give you a break. Listen to a lot of Iron Maiden, and Sly and Robbie. Oh, the mixture, yeah, you want to get a neve. * theziggens-guest says: What are some of your current musical favorites? sorry, that was mixer Jack: Sizzla. Ras1: Avail. Ras1: There's no pressure. Relax. * johnnykata11 says: If you could work with any hip-hop artists, who and why? Ras1: I would own the toilet seat that Elvis died on. Opie: I would have the pants that Il Duce wore. * lbda says: What is your take on the current MP3.com lawsuit(s). Do you mind your fans listening to your music from MP3.com, granted they've bought the CD? The Band: We don't care, as long as people like what they hear. A lot of people buy our CD's, so we can make babies, and have a nice life, and make more CD's, and make more music. If you listen to us and get our music for free it's hard for us to continue to make music. So don't make us slaves to the road! * FiveEightFish-guest says: What are some of your top most favorite/ inspirational bands/ musicians? Opie: That would have to be Butthole Surfers. Ras1: That would be Slayer. Jack: It would be Twentieth Congress. Marshall: Theolonious Monk, Charley Parker and Miles Davis, all those cutting edge musicians, in the hard to do field that jazz was in that era, is similar to how hip hop is in our era. Ras1: The Clash, Bad Brains Miguel: Burn Unit * guest-dubber says: What are your plans for the Memeorial Day Weekend Holiday? any time for fun? Ras1: I'm going to be drinking myself into oblivion, at Alex's Bar, on Anaheim and Orizaba in Long Beach. Opie: I'm going to be surfing, at Surfside, dropping in at the Toko Tasi youth center for undisgruntled kids. * Would you like to ask a question but dont know how? Do what feels good to you. * guest-badfish says: you worked together with the german band skunk. are you close friends and when do you wanna come to europe? Ras1: It was written by me, Eric and Bud. It was collaborated also with Marshall and Miguel. And my brother Carmen in Long Beach. And he will fix your car for cheap! * guest-larrymaddog says: RAS I know you have some metal in your background would some of that work with lbda Ras1: All I know is Slayer rules, Iron Maiden kicks ass, and I don't think we'll be putting any of that on the next album. * guest-Blipless says: Do you guys still collaberate with Ziggins? I first saw them a long time ago at Radio City in Anaheim! Opie: Come in Captain! I've seen a Jon Pountey, and he likes Rusty Nails, Manhattans, whatever you're slamming back, Budweisers, but he's a real cool family guy, I think he was once playing bass in Philadelphia. He did sound check there. * guest-dori5446 says: what other instruments can u guys play that u dont play in the band?? Miguel: I play the calimba. Jack: I play the juice harp, and the french horn.
