LAP 44: Fisichella faced suspension trouble. LAP 52: Fernando Alonso again has an engine failure. Race #10: French GP -- July 6th, 2003 LAP 21: Somehow, Jenson Button ran out of gas thanks to a fuel delivery problem (crew's fault). Villeneuve finished, though -- in 9th of 16 too LAP 42: Fisi's engine blew. LAP 43: Then Alonso's went. LAP 45: And finally Trulli's expired just as well. Race #9: European GP at the Nurburgring -- July --, 2003 LAP 26: Kimi retires with a blown engine while leading. LAP 37: 0livier Panis spins off. Oops. Same lap, Trulli's fuel pressure goes dead. LAP 51: Villenueve denied a finish for the fourth of past five races. This time it is another gearbox. LAP 53: Da Matta's engine expired. LAP 66: David Coulthard goes off-track to avoid a slower Alonso, apparently does something bad to the car. Race #8: Canadian GP -- June 16th, 2003 LAP 6: Heinz-Harald Frentzen sees electrical failure. LAP 14: A brake fluid leak takes Villeneuve out. LAP 20: Double whammy for Jordan: Fisichella, gearbox; Firman, engine. LAP 26: Trulli spins off thanks to damage from clashing with Pizzonia on the gridstart. LAP 47: Heidfeld's Ferrari engine goes while Coulthard's McLaren gearbox bites the dust as well. LAP 51: Button has gearbox failure. LAP 63: Justin Wilson retires from 10th place with gearbox failure; teammate Jos goes on to finish an nice 9th place in the race. LAP 62: Da Matta falls out with a possible suspension problem. LAP 69: Pizzonia retires with brake problem on final lap; is classified. Race #7: Monaco GP -- June 1st, 2003 GRIDSTART: Lap 1: Heinz-Harald Frentzen gets it wrong off a kerb in the swimming pool section and hits the wall. Out by driver error. LAP 10: Antonio Pizzonia parks it with unknown trouble. LAP 15: After a strong race, Mark Webber ends up putting his Jag in the garage with an engine air leak. This is an engine problem. LAP 47 AND 48: Shockingly, both Minardis fall out one by one. ?? trouble plagued Wilson while Verstappen was out with ????? LAP 63: Jacques Villeneuve is taken out with engine failure 23 laps from the end. Race #6: Austrian GP -- May 18th, 2003 GRIDSTART: Cristiano daMatta stalled it on the grid twice, causing two restarts. HH Frentzen, who did not get off the line on the second restart, directly links a burnt-out clutch to the restart situation. Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber started from the pitlane. LAP 1: Minardi, **debuting traction control on a Minardi for the first time on Jos Verstappen's car**, sees it last one lap before it breaks. Sigh. LAP 6: Olivier Panis goes out after debris punctures his tire and also damages his suspension. Rain began falling at this point in time. LAP 32: Race leader Juan Montoya's BMW engine went up in smoke. LAP 44: Alonso retires with transmission failure. LAP 46: Heidfeld falls out with engine trouble that persisted for 20 laps. LAP 62: Fisichella out and is the final DNF of the day. Race #5: GP of Spain -- May 4th, 2003 GRIDSTART: Chaos as Kimi Raikkonen hits Pizzonia's stalled Jaguar, and Jarno Trulli all involved in the accidents. They are out. Lap 12: Jacques Villeneuve out with an electrical fire. Lap 18: David Coulthard cuts into a corner occupied by Button and gets himself spun into the gravel. Not a good day for the blocky-faced Scot. Lap xx: Heinz Harald Frentzen falls out of the race. Lap 41: Olivier Panis out. He said after the race it might have been a "gearbox problem, but this needs to be investigated." Lap 42: Fisichella's engine expires. --- Race #4: GP of San Marino, Imola -- April 20th, 2003. GRIDSTART: Both Jags have horrible gridstarts; Pizzonia had to be pushed back to the pits for a restart and Webber lost almost ten positions from his fifth place grid position. LAP 19: Villeneuve retires with a hydraulics problem. LAP 24: Justin Wilson pushed back to the pits for some reason. LAP ??: Verstappen in other Minardi stops his car. 9 TO GO: Firman pulls off with a broken oil line. 7 TO GO: Webber drives around the track slowly before going into the garage. His driveshaft broke hence why he went out. 2 TO GO: Fisichella's engine blows. Race #3: Brazilian GP, Interlagos -- April 6th, 2003 LAP 8: Heidfeld falls out of the race with an engine problem. LAP 15: Wilson spins off the track at turn 3, the first of six drivers. LAP 17: Ralph Firman and Olivier Panis collide. Both take damages which put them out of the race. LAP 24: Montoya slips off and then his stopped car is hit by Pizzonia who spun into the same place on the same lap. LAP 26: During a yellow flag time, Michael Schumacher spun off at the same corner Montoya did. It marks the first DNF for MS since 2001. LAPS 31 and 32: Verstappen and Button spin off, respectively. Button's incident damaged the car dramatically in the same place as Messrs. JPM, MS, and Wilson. LAP 46: Barrichello's electrics fail him. LAP 53: Webber skids, hits a barrier, scatters car parts all over the track, and slams the barrier on the other side of the track. It caused Fernando Alonso to run into this debris with similar result and cause a red flag. END: Fisichella, who got the lead when Raikonnen made a mistake, is declared winner after a few days of turmoil caused by the FIA. Race #2: Malaysian GP, Sepang -- March 22nd, 2003 GRIDSTART: Giancarlo Fisichella does not make it off the grid. Jacques Villenueve did not roll off the formation lap. Both are considered DNFs. Two corners in, Michael Schumacher would make a bonsai move on Trulli, lock up his brakes, and spun Trulli out. Both continued in the race. Lap 2: David Coulthard out with a electrical problem. Lap 12: Immediately after coming out of the pits and passing Ralph Firman for 11th, Panis' engine fails him. He claims the fuel pressure dropped after three corners. Lap 35: Webber is done for due to fuel pick up problems?? Lap 43: Wilson elects to retire due to shoulder pain. He went to the hospital following the race. Lap 42: Pizzonia puts it in the gravel trap. Race #1: Australian GP, Melbourne -- March 8th, 2003 · In Practice: Minardi do not post Qualifying times in strategic move to keep cars out of parc ferme overnight. This means they can work on them before the race. GRIDSTART: Clean. Polesitter MSchumacher has lead at lap 1. Lap 5: Rubens Barrichello (2nd place) slides off the track tailfirst and hits barriers. Out. Lap 6: Ralph Firman does same as Barrichello, at same spot. Safety car unleashed. Lap 6: Cristiano daMatta spins off at another place. Stuck in gravel and out. Lap 16: Mark Webber ends up having a rear suspension failure. Lap 19: A puncture in the radiatior puts the debuting Wilson into the pits. Lap 21: Nick Heidfeld retires with Sauber with suspension damage. Lap 32: Olivier Panis ousted by a fuel pressure problem. Lap 54: Giancarlo Fisichella parks it with a faulty gearbox. Was classified in finish. Lap 54: Antonio Pizzonia has same fate as teammate Webber did: rear suspension failure.
