Romeo and Juliet:Sealed with a Kiss
Daniel Trippet, Patricia Trippet, Chip Albers, Michael Toland, Stephen Goldberg, Phil Nibbelink and introducing Chanelle Nibblelink
Romeo & Juliet: Sealed With a Kiss is a fully animated feature fantasy about two star crossed seals from warring families that fall in love against their parents' wishes. When Juliet's father gives her hand in marriage to the monstrous elephant seal Prince, Juliet must fake her death in order to be reunited with Romeo. But the plan goes afoul and it's a desperate race to the end. With the help of their friends Friar Lawrence and Kissy, the kissing fish, the day is saved and the young lovers are reunited. Romeo & Juliet: Sealed With a Kiss is the ageless tale of love and prejudice set in an undersea world.
A traditional fully-animated film, Sealed with a Kiss is seals doing Shakespeare. I know it sounds a bit strange but over-all it works and makes for an entertaining movie for the kids as well as parents to enjoy together. First let me get this straight, dialogue is modern but a few of the characters quote famous Shakespeare in a comedic way that should not distract the young one from enjoying the film. One thing I found amazing was the animation because Phil Nibbelink wrote, directed and animated every frame of the film over the course of 5 years and I think his hard work paid off as it does look very good. You might think anything Shakespeare might be too deep for kids but while this remains true to the original work for the most part it does have it's share of light fun that will keep them glued to the TV. I give the cast and crew high marks for making a enjoyable children's film and also making something different from any of the other movies like it that are out. This will make for a great gift for the coming holiday and is sure to provide hours of entertainment as well. Released by Indican Pictures. **** Out Of *****
