Pittsburgh's premiere and longest running TV film critic!
For the uninitiated, the FIST OF FIORE AWARD is bestowed upon movies that are, in my opinion, the epitome of excellence in film entertainment. These are the movies you can watch time and again, and certainly ones you would want to add to your home video collection.
So, without further ado, here are the winners for 2010:
1. THE BOOK OF ELI
2. THE WOLFMAN
3. CLASH OF THE TITANS
4. TOY STORY 3
5. TRUE GRIT
HONORABLE MENTION
1. ALICE IN WONDERLAND
2. IRON MAN 2
3. THE LAST AIRBENDER
4. INCEPTION
5. LEGENDS OF THE GUARDIANS
6. DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS
7. LET ME IN
8. UNSTOPPABLE
9. BLACK SWAN
These films represent the best of what Hollywood had to offer this past year. I have always claimed, and do so here again, when you compare the FIST OF FIORE AWARD winners with the Oscar winners, you will find there are more FOF titles in your personal home video collection. As a critic, I am the pulse of what audiences want from their movies; following no agenda nor catering to any studio or executive.
I've always said if you can find a really great movie each month, then Hollywood has done its job. Below are the films I feel represent the best in release for the given month for this year. You can take your chances at the box office, but with prices constantly rising, this reference may be just the tool you need to spend those hard earned entertainment dollars wisely.
