here, on the outskirts of thane, out of the main bloodline of center (based around the train station) one can find a more laid back view of life.    Geeta's family live in the flats seen in the background (tall white).   These roads are popular routes of people on evening walks as well as congregating areas for the local cows.
This shop is selling rakis,  a cloth braclet that is a tradition in india.   The idia behind this tradition is to bind the relationship between brother and sister.   The sister buys a raki for her brother.  on a particular day  (holiday)  she goes to his house (if he has moved out of the family residence) along with some sweets.   She ties this raki on his wrist and gives him the sweets, part of which she must feed him with her hands.   In return, she will recieve money or gift from him.    It is symbolic of the strong ties there are between sister and brother.
