The Certification Process involves three parts: An application, a qualitative assessment, and a written multiple-choice examination. Eligible graduates from Endorsed Schools are exempt from the qualitative assessment. The written multiple-choice examination is offered twice a year at central locations throughout the United States.

 

Applicants must:
1) Possess a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the United States. 2) Be actively involved in the practice of Holistic Nursing for one full year prior to application or part time for a minimum of 2,000 hours within five years prior to application. 3) Complete a minimum of 48 contact hours of continuing education in areas of Holistic Nursing theory,practice, philosophy and ethics within two years prior to application. 4) Possess a baccalaureatte degree.

Graduates from AHNCC Endorsed Schools are exempted from #2 and 3 above.

 

National Certification:
Establishes minimum competency standards for Holistic Nursing practice;
Assures the public that the certified nurse hs completed all eligibiity requirements to earn a credential verifying he/she has achieved the level of knowledge and competency required for practice of Holistic Nursing; and
Recognizes nurses who have met those standards.
