just outside the old city (and roman harbor) are two main streets that run most of the city.   On this day, liberation day, one of the many schools march in parade to show love of country.   Note that only girls play the drums and the boys play the bugle.   The turks are very proud of their country and this love permeates many aspects of their society.
this is one of the many examples of the Lycian tombs.   It is carved in the rock  that surrounds this city Fethiy that lies in a little cove along the mediteranian.   This particular tomb is larger than most showing the importance of the deceased.   It dates back to around  350BC.  It is about a 5 minute walk from the harbor (where we stayed) shoing how much part of the history is still present in much of the mediteranian life here.   To give you an idea of how large this is,  the carving of the door in the above part is about tree to four times larger then normal.
