Ah, here we have it. One of my most favourite scenes from my favourite show. To add all the hilarity that you would get watching it, can only be obtained by, well, watching it. So do so! I have merely provided the script.

Constable Habib returns with a mop end to act as a wig for Inspector Fowler. Fowler is trying to help Constable Goody prepare for his day in court against a hard-hitting defense attorney. The scene begins with Fowler placing the mop on his head...

Fowler- "So, do you think this helps to set the scene?"

Goody- "Oh yes sir, that's much better... Now just remind me one more time. What are we doing?"

Fowler- "We're pretending to be at the trial of Harry the Spike."

Goody- "And who am I pretending to be?"

Fowler- "Yourself you idiot. You are pretending to be yourself!"

Goody- "How can I pretend to be myself? I am myself. If I pretend to be myself, who am I being whilst I'm pretending, hmm? I might disappear altogether and develop severe personality disorders. And then my mother would come down to this station and do her raving na-na."

Fowler- "Goody, I want you, yourself, to pretend to be yourself, but in a different space and time."

Goody- "Oh I see now. Like 'The X-files' then... In the end, do I turn out to be an alien twin who's infested my body for purposes of conquest and colonization?"

Fowler-"Goody--"

Goody-"--Because that can happen you know. I mean we can't be the only ones, can we?"

Fowler-"I feel confident, Goody, that you at least, are unique."

Goody-"Oh, thank you sir!"

Inpector Fowler (played by Rowan Atkinson)
Constable Goody (played by James Dreyfus)

I showed this clip during my final english seminar. My topic was 'Humour and it's Cultural Differences'... to tell you the truth, I just really liked this particular scene, and had an excuse to show it in class...
