This Truth We Must Not Deny

Some say we are to deny ourselves and conform;
adapt to the environment or die.
When  environment is hostile;
adapt to the environment and die!

We think we've adapted
from prehistoric times till now.
But it is our environment we've changed
we remain the same somehow.

We are weak and vulnerable and always will be.
Our ancestors recognized this and so must we.
They applied the principle of extending leverage
and changed the environment
into protection, food and beverage.

As thunder follows lightening,
this flash of recognition will cause
us to extend God's grace and change the environment
so as to tame ferocious self-centered flaws.

Don't believe we are adaptable. Don't believe in this lie.
The truth is what we must recognize. This poem tells the reason why.
