The sun made her throat dry

The wind stung her eyes

It didnít look the same anymore

It didnít feel the same anymore

His hand lay heavily in hers;

a weight stopping

her from moving

His laughter echoed

like they stood in an empty hall;

it was empty

because there was no audience

because she wasnít listening

She dug a hole in the sand

And watched

as the wind blew fresh grains

to conceal its fleeting existence.

She glanced up at his smiling face

and wondered how long

it would be before

he forgot.
