Home For Christmas
(Home for Christmas lyrics byHaase/Moorehead )

Crossing the ocean with my window view
Thinking of the time I spent with you
And I close my eyes
I see the family
Making out their wish list
All dressed up for Christmas
On my own for too many years
I miss the happiness
I miss the tears

When I close my eyes
And I'm all alone
I think of all the love we shared
When I need a friend
Or a helping hand
I know that you will all be there
I've been gone for too many holidays
But you can light the fire
Cause this year
I'll be home for Christmas Day

The night was silent. Not a sound could be heard except for a few passing cars. Aislinn walked down the street pulling her jacket around her self tighter when the wind picked up. Her pace picked up quicker and she went in the direction her feet led her.

Aislinn stopped and looked to the two-story brick home, she once lived in. The front window was open and she could see the brightly lit tree with presents underneath. She watched him walk into the room and kneel in front of the fireplace. He opened the glass screen and started a fire just as two children ran into the room.

They tackled him with hugs and pleading looks in their eyes to open a present of their choice. She could see him give in and reach for two of the brightly wrapped gifts.

I see the children playing in the snow
Precious memories I used to know
When I see the love in the mother's eyes
Always there to teach us
The real meaning on Christmas
On my own for too many years
I miss the happiness
I miss the tears

When I close my eyes
And I'm all alone
I think of all the love we shared
When I need a friend
Or a helping hand
I know that you will all be there
I've been gone for too many holidays
But you can light the fire
Cause this year
I'll be home for Christmas

The children tore into the packages and smiled at their father at the sight of their new toy. They each gave him another hug. Aislinn could see him talking to them and leading them out of the room. He returned a few minutes later, and reached over to pick up the paper. He paused and looked out the window, Aislinn shrank back hoping he would not notice her. He continued to stare as if he knew she was out there.

He disappeared from the window, and she breathed a sigh of relief thinking he was gone. She started to walk away from the house, but stopped when the front door opened casting a yellow light and his shadow across the front yard.

"Aislinn?" He questioned.

It doesn't matter how alone you think you are
Something happens to you
When you see that shinning star

When I close my eyes
And I'm all alone
I think of all the love we shared
When I need a friend
Or a helping hand
I know that you will all be there
I've been gone for so many holidays
But you can light the fire
Cause this year
I'll be home for Christmas

"Aislinn?" He questioned again stepping outside, "Is that you?" She froze.

"Yeah Jace." Aislinn whispered her answer a few minutes later. She stepped closer and looked up at him. A chill ran down her spine and she shivered under his stare.

"You're going to catch a cold, get in here." JC said as if she had been there all along the past six years. He motioned for her to come inside. She hesitated and then started up the front sidewalk slowly. Aislinn walked into the house, and JC closed the door behind her. He took her coat off and hung it on a hook next to the other three jackets. She was led into the living room, where she took a seat in front of the glowing fire. He disappeared for a minute only to return with a warm drink for her.

They sat quietly for a few minutes. Aislinn looked around the room, her eyes stopping at pictures of the children on the mantel. "They're beautiful." She said quietly.

"Maille and Mikhail?" He asked. She nodded. "It's been hard."

"Sorry." She looked down, staring into the cup of the brown liquid. She closed her eyes and breathed. He watched her knowing she was sorry for leaving him so many Christmas' ago. The two of them didn't speak again, but Aislinn knew she was forgiven.

When I close my eyes
And I'm all alone
I think of all the love we shared
When I need a friend
Or a helping hand
I know that you will all be there
I've been gone for too many holidays
But you can light the fire
I'm sending a wire
That this year
I'll be home for Christmas Day
