Twelve Days of Christmas
Three French Hens

Marie jumped hearing the phone ring. She reached over and picked it up, "Marie." She answered.

"Hey Ree..." JC's voice rang through the phone.

"Hey." Marie smiled looking at the picture she had of him sitting on her desk.

"So do you like your flowers?" He asked nonchalantly and pushed Chris out of his face.

"Very much. So what are you up to?" Marie asked getting up to answer the door.

"Nothing. Chris is being ANNOYING, but what else is new?" JC said, "What are you up to?" He grinned, knowing exactly what she was doing.

"Answering, "She paused opening the door and no one was there, "the door. No, one's here. Hmph." She was about to close the door, but JC said, "Look down."

"Okay." Marie said really wondering what he was up to now. She looked down and there was another envelope, a lily, two daises, and now three mums. She picked them up and asked him, "Really now what are you up to?"

"Nothing." He said.

"Sure ya aren't." She said putting the flowers in the same vase as the other ones. Marie fixed the phone so that it was resting between her ear and shoulder, which allowed her to open the envelope. Walking back into her office Marie pulled out a blue index card with the letter "L," and the note. "You are such a sweetheart."

"I certainly try." JC said. Marie laughed, "What does it say?"

Marie read the note to herself:

Are you enjoying the mysterious notes yet? I sure hope you are. Put the flowers in some water! (Which I'm sure you already do). 9 days left. May God be with you. You are most certainly in my prayers.

God bless,

"You know darn well what it says." Marie said. Pinning the index card up on the cork board next to the others. They read 'WILL.' "I'm starting to get an idea here."

"Oh really?" JC asked curiously.

"Yes,." Marie smiled. "I have lots of work to do. So I'm going to go. I love you."

"I love you to." JC said, "Be safe."

"I will. Bye." Marie said and hung up the phone. She shook her head knowing full well what he was up to, but loved every bit of it so far.
