A Change Of Heart

Chapter 5

The next day was an early day. We only got a limited amount of sleep
because we had to do some more shots at 4am. It was rough but I couldn’t
wait to see Nick. Brian! I mean Brian! NOT Nick! I can’t believe I just
said that! I am still shocked at how cool Nick is, though.

Right then Nick walked in and slapped me on the back. I jumped from the
force.

“Wake up!” he said with a grin, not acknowledging that he hurt me.

“I think I just did by the way you hit me!” I snapped.

“Whoa I don’t even know you for a day and you’re already flipping out on
me.” Nick laughed.

I smiled and said, “Shut up,” still acting mad, but Nick knew I wasn’t mad.

“I would hate to be your husband, man.” Nick kept going.

“I said shut up!”

“Awww you love me to death don’t you,” Nick said squeezing me in for a tight
hug, so I couldn’t breathe.

“Well you’re about to suffocate me to death if you don’t let go of me,” I
mumbled into his chest. It actually came out more like, “We ou bout o
uffocate e o eath i ou don le o o e”.

As he was letting go of me, Brian walked by.

“What’s up Frack? Hey Summer.” He said, cheerfully with his hooded
University of Kentucky sweatshirt and a blue backward hat.

“What’s cooking good looking?” Nick sang in the funniest voice.

Brian and I looked at each other and cracked a laugh.

“And why are you so happy sugar?” Brian asked Nick.

“Uhh Bri? Never call me sugar again.” Nick said.

“Only if you never call me good looking again,” Brian said, flashing a grin.

“Deal.”

“So…why are you happy?” Brian asked again.

“Can’t a guy be happy?” Nick asked.

“Yeah, but the Nick Carter I know is NEVER happy at 4 in the morning.” Brian
told him.

“Guess there is a first for everything, Rok!” he said with a grin, and
walked past him to go talk to the other guys.

“Summer…you have no idea what you have just seen.” Brian said, turning to me
after watching Nick walk off.

“Umm, I guess not.” I said, looking confused.

“You better treasure the sight of Nick looking happy at 4am cause you will
probably never come across that sighting again.”

“Brian!” I said laughing.

“Just remember…you and I were the first ones to see this,” he said winking
at me, then walking off.

Damn…Brian + winking = a feeling of greatness.

A few minutes later I was sitting on a small couch sipping some coffee to
keep me awake, before we started shooting again.

Nick came and sat by me with a muffin and coffee in his hands.

“Don’t even say it.” I said, looking at him.

“Say what?” he asked innocently.

I looked at him for a second than it hit him what I meant, “Nah you deserve
something more than ‘what’s cooking good looking’. How about…”

I interrupted him by saying, “Candy!”

“Huh? Candy? No how about…” Nick said, a little confused.

“No! Listen. ‘I Want Candy’ is playing. I love this song!” I said.
“Oh my…I just realized who sang this…. Your brother!” I said, excitedly.

“Yeah.”

“Do you ever get jealous that Aaron sings better songs than you?” I said.

“Wha-?”

“If I were you I would want to change my name to Aaron.” I said, teasing him
more.

“I can’t belie-.”

I cut Nick off again. It was so funny to get Nick mad when he didn’t know
you were just joking around.

“Awww, I’m just playing!” I told him, and messed up his hair as I got up.

“Where are you going?” Nick asked.

“I don’t know.” I said honestly.

“Well, you never told me. Did you have fun last night?”

“Oh of course! We should do it again.” I said.

“Really?”

Why did Nick seem so surprised by my comment?

“Yeah, and maybe this time you could bring Aaron along,” I said.

I could see Nick’s face getting a little red.

“Nickkkk! You know I’m kidding! Aaron and I hang out on our own time. I
would never ask him to hang out with us.” Nick just looked at me.

I set my coffee down and ran into another room, before Nick could get to me.
I knew if Nick caught me, he would tickle me and never stop. Sure any
girl would love Nick to tickle them, but I have two reasons why I’d rather
him stay away from me right now.
1. It’s Brian I want not Nick.
2. It’s four in the morning!

As I ran in the room, Nick was right behind me and shut the door once he was
in the room. It must have been a dressing room or something, but the only
thing I could tell you was that Nick and I were the only one’s in there at
the time.

“Payback is bittersweet, Summer.” Nick said, slyly rubbing his hands
together.

“Nick don’t you dare tickle me, I was kidding. I would never go out with
Aaron. You are the sexiest guy in the world. No one can compare to yo—,”

“No no….what you said will stay with me for life…now you are gonna get it.”
Nick said, walking towards me. “But maybe I’ll go easy on you if you keep
telling me what you were just saying.”

I rolled my eyes, but decided to continue, hoping he would leave me and my
tired self alone, “Oh Nick you are a goddess, you…”

At the same time, Brian walked by the dressing room and heard Summer and
Nick talking. He didn’t know why Summer was saying that stuff about Nick,
but all he could think of was that Nick was the absolute man right now!

“Hmmm…nope. Sorry Summer but I think I still have to tickle you.” Nick
said, walking up to me and started tickling me all over. As he was tickling
me, I fell backwards on the couch behind me, and Nick fell down with me.
Wait! How did this happen? How did Nick get on top of me? Whoa-what is
going on here?
