A Change Of Heart

CHAPTER 14

All of them looked up at Nick and I, who were both looking like a disaster
from just waking up.

When no one said anything, AJ finally splurged out, “Long night, huh?” with
his eyebrows shaking.

“No AJ, nothing like that.” Nick said, stubbornly.

They all looked at us again so I spoke up, “We..uhh.. we overslept.  We
didn’t even realize that we fell asleep last night, and uhh…yeah,” I said,
getting lower in my voice each time I said another word.

“Well you’re here now so let’s get started before we lose anymore time!”
Billie yelled.

Everyone stood up and stood around Billie so he could tell us what to do
first.  “Ok today, as you know, is the last day of the shoots.  Sad, I
know.”

Everyone laughed at his last comment, which was obviously sarcastic.

“We have to finish up the group shots which will probably take half the day
today.  Then we will put finishing touches on the shots with the girls.”

Nick and I looked at each other, relieved no one bitched at us badly like we
thought.

“So, let’s get you fella’s in make up while the girls get dressed in their
outfits, and vice-versa.  If we are lucky, we will be out of here before 8
tonight,” Billie said.

Oh no… in not even 12 hours I may never talk to Nick again.  Ok now I was
really freaking myself out because I wasn’t even thinking about Brian.
Heck, I wasn’t even happy when the girl that was supposed to be Brian’s
girlfriend in the video cancelled, in hopes of them taking me from Nick to
be with him.  I actually wished I got to stay with Nick, and as my luck
would have it, they put Brian’s girlfriend Leighanne in the spot.  Was I
really over Brian?  I think I am afraid to admit it, but I have a slight
crush on Nick.  Ok, I have a HUMUNGOUS crush on Nick.  Brian is just Brian
now.  But damn, I better still talk to Nick after this video is over because
if I don’t than I don’t know how I will get through some of my days here in
LA.  After what he said last night about me trying for myself, I knew he
believed in me, which was kind of hard for me to believe at first.  But
enough about me, I had a video shoot to finish up.

So the guys did their shots for maybe up till 1pm than we broke for lunch.
I spent most of my time either talking to one of the girls on the shoots,
which might I add, Leighanne is VERY nice, and I am so happy for Brian.  I
even talked to Nick’s mom for a little bit the last day.  She was in town
for some promotion with Aaron and she decided to stop by.  Too bad Aaron
didn’t come- than I REALLY could have made Nick mad, pretending to ask Aaron
out on a date or something.  Haha, it would have been hilarious.

At lunch, Nick saved me a seat by him at one of the picnic benches outside.
As we ate our chicken, salad, and millions of other things the caterer’s
brought over, Nick and I didn’t say much.

“I can’t believe this is our last day,” I told Nick, after taking a sip from
my water.

“I know.  It sucks, I never wanted a video shoot to not be over,” he said,
looking at me.

I smiled.

“In fact, I think this is the first video that I never minded waking up at 4
in the morning.   I mean, there was actually something really good to wake
up for, so it wasn’t hard,” he said, staring into my eyes.  It was actually
weird the way he was staring.

“And what was that that you didn’t mind waking up for?” I asked.

“Oh shut up, Summer!” he laughed.

“What?” I asked, innocently.

“You knowwww!” he said, shyly.

“No, I don’t know, Nick.  Why don’t you tell me,” I said, wanting to
embarrass him more, even though I knew what he meant.

Nick just looked down at his food and started playing with it.

“Nick?” I said, in a low voice.

“Yeah?” he said.

“Well, ya think we will ever talk after today?” I asked him, not knowing if
we seriously would or not.

“Summer, man.  Of course we will.  I mean, when you come over to go on dates
with my brother, since you obviously love him so much, than we will talk,”
Nick said, joking around.

Now Nick was embarrassing me. Only fair, I guess.

He looked at me, laughing, only to see I wasn’t.

“What?  I told you.  Of course we will.  I have your cell number and look,”
he said, taking a napkin.  “Hold on one second.”

He walked inside and came running out.  He sat back down on the bench and
took the napkin and started writing on it with a pen he just ran inside for.

When he was done, he gave me the napkin, “Here is my cell phone, home phone
number, e-mail address, fax number, and even Aaron’s cell number.  Now you
have no excuse to not talk to me, ok?”

I laughed, “Fax number?  Aaron’s cell number?”

“Oh scratch that, I forgot you already had Aaron’s number,” he said, making
me remember of yesterday what I said when we were joking around.

I had a huge smile on my face and took the pen from his hand.

“Here I already know you have my cell number, but here is my apartment
number, just in case,” I said, writing the numbers on another napkin.

“Ok cool,” he said, as he put the napkin in his pocket and went back to
eating lunch.
