CHAPTER 12

After we joked around for a bit in the bedroom I decided to go put some
coffee on.

“So does your family still live in New Jersey?” Nick asked, as he sat down
at the little table in the kitchen.

“Yeah.  A long with everyone else I basically know.  Out here in Cali I have
no friends yet, so it kind of gets depressing at times.  Ya know, like no
one to go chill with or anything.” I told him.

He nodded his head, “Yeah, but that just shows you really want to be an
actress, you know?  You need to make sacrifices, and your was to give up
your social life to come here and get a break in the business.”

“That’s true,” I said grabbing the coffeepot and pouring Nick a cup,
“Everyone tells me I am never going to make it, though.  They say it is too
hard of a business for most people to succeed in.”

Nick just looked at me.  “And what do you think of that?” he asked.

I set the coffeepot down and grabbed a chair next to him, “Well, I really
don’t know what to think.  It kind of makes me want to go out there and
prove all those people wrong.  I can’t imagine growing up doing anything
else.  I have always felt that way,” I said.

“Summer.”

“Yeah.”

Nick then grabbed both of my hands and cupped them into his.  “I think you
can make it.  I totally believe in you.  Don't give up.  Ever.  You hear
me?”

I gave Nick a gracious smile, “Thanks, Nick.”

“Well, you need someone to go out there and do this for.  But by that
statement I don’t mean to go out and fulfill your dream for me, Summer.  Go
out and do it for yourself,” Nick took one of his hands away so he could
take a sip of his coffee.

I just looked away from him and out the window, just dazing off.  Going into
my own little world on how wonderful life was treating me ever since I met
Nick.  Nothing good happens to me.  That was until I got the part for the
video.  And it was even better luck when I got paired with Nick for the
shoot.  I was enjoying the ride, I just hoped it would never stop.

“So tell me,” Nick interrupted my thoughts.  “Why am I the only one drinking
coffee?”

“I hate coffee.  I just figured you would want it,” I said to him.

“Oh.  Yeah coffee is pretty nasty, but it keeps me awake like a mother.”

There Nick goes again- talking in his ‘slang’.  It was just too funny.

“So what time do you need to leave?” I asked, looking at the clock, reading
10:02pm.

“What are you kicking me out already?” Nick laughed.

“No not at all!  I was just wondering if you..uhh..I don’t know-had a curfew
or anything,” I said, embarrassed and surprised that I just said that.

Nick started laughing.  “Curfew?  Nah.  Most of the guys, with the exception
of Brian, go out dancing or out to clubs or something usually when we are
staying at a hotel.  And Brian has Leighanne with him this time around so
he’ll be busy with her.  So they wouldn’t even notice if I came back to the
hotel room or not.”

“Oh that’s cool,” I said.

“Yeah.  I hate when Bri is with Leighanne though.”

“Why is that?” I asked, thinking Nick would say something like he hated
Leighanne.

“Cause I have no one to play video games with!” Nick whined.

“Awww poor Nicky!” I said leaning over the table to squeeze his cheeks.

As I went to squeeze them, he grabbed my wrists and starred at me.

“No one, and I mean NO ONE, calls me Nicky!” he said, clenching his teeth.

I laughed in his face and said, “Whatcha gonna do about it…NICKY!”

Nick held on to my wrists and walked around the table until he was close to
me.  He than picked me up and threw me over his shoulders and carried me to
the main room where the tv was, and threw me on the couch.

“Shall I attempt to tickle?” Nick said, waving his fingers in my face.

“No!  No!  Nicky-I ahh-  I mean Nick-don’t you dare!” I screamed.

I stood up on the couch, hoping he couldn’t reach me, but no such luck- that
boy is one tall man!

“Ok, ok.  Here’s the deal.  I won’t tickle you, if you don’t call me Nicky.
Ok?”

“Ok.”

I jumped off the couch and handed Nick the clicker to the tv.

“Here.  I need to go take a shower, I am so hot!”  I said, waving my hands
in front of my face to cool myself down.

“I know,” Nick said under his breath.

“What?” I said, not hearing him.

“Nothing, go take your shower,” he said, turning on the tv.
