The Trouble With Love Is

Chapter 1

Samantha Thomson was searching through the bags she had packed the night before for something to wear. She had an outfit picked out to wear today but when she put it on this morning she was less than pleased.
“Lyndsay! I need your help!!” Samantha called to her roommate. The two have roomed together since the beginning of the fall semester at Madison University. They were assigned to share the not so spacious dorm room together. Madison is one of the most prestigious universities in North Carolina so both girls are very intelligent.
“What is it?” an annoyed Lyndsay asked as she re-entered the room. She had been out in the hall and most likely flirting with some guys.
“I can’t find anything to wear. Everything I have looks wrong! They looked fine the last time I wore them but today they are being crazy and making me look completely disgusting.” Samantha whined. Lyndsay let out a small giggle causing Samantha to shoot her Sam’s famous death stare.
“Sorry gees. It just that I’ve never saw you have melt down about what to wear ever. And suddenly you turned into a girl. I don’t know what happened.” Lyndsay replied and began to laugh again.
“Ha ha Lyndsay…could you please help me? I need to leave in like 20minutes. And I still have to do my make-up!” Samantha asked.
“Okay let me get this straight you are putting on make-up and freaking out over what to wear. So which one of those cuties from back home are you in love with?” Lyndsay questioned with a devious smile plastered on her face. She knew this was going to piss Samantha off more than anything.
“Lyndsay, how many times do I have to tell you? I’m not in love with anyone! Especially not Josh or Joey! So shut up about it!” Samantha yelled.
“Okay, okay…. I’m sorry. Why don’t you wear these jeans…and…. what’s this? A pink shirt? It’s cute so I’m not gonna tease you about it. So wear that shirt and you can take my new flip-flops that don’t fit me. Cuz their pink and that would be soo adorable.” Lyndsay told Samantha while looking through her bags. Samantha smiled. Then began to change. Her jeans were tight low riders and her shirt was the one she had picked out the night before to wear. It was a v-neck spaghetti strap shirt. After she had the out fit on she was happy with the way it looked.
Samantha grabbed her make-up bag and sat down at the desk/make-up table and began to make herself look pretty.
Ten minutes later she was done with her make-up and she was beginning to load up her car. Five minutes after that she had said her goodbyes and was on the road headed home.

Meanwhile, Josh and Joey were also well on their way to Champagne. The two had met up in Pennsylvania the day before and had been driving non-stop since.
“How much longer?” Joey asked. They were both tired and getting sick of being cooped up in the car.
“Um…I don’t know. A few hours I guess. But we’re gonna stop in a minute to refuel and go to the bath room.” Josh replied. Joey sighed then turned on the radio and the sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd filled their ears.
“Sweet home Alabama, where the skies are so blue! Sweet home Alabama, lord I’m coming home to you!” Joey sang rather loudly.
“Hey Joe, ya know Lynyrd Skynyrd sings that song so you don’t have to.” Josh informed him. Joe punched him in the arm.
“I hope you know, Jess thinks I have a very nice voice.” Joey replied causing Josh to roll his eyes.
“And I hope you know Jess is just a bit ditzy.” Josh told Joey causing them both to laugh.
“I can’t wait to get home and see the girls again.” Josh said. Joey nodded his head in agreement.
“It’s been way too long.”

Jessica Johnson watched the beautiful scenery passing by her. She was riding with three of her closest friends from college. They were all going home for the summer and offered to give her a ride. She was dying to get out of this car. Jess loved her friends but she had been stuck in this car for far too long. Luckily they were in Tennessee so she wouldn’t have to put up with them for too much longer. She was almost home. She was thanking God every five minutes for that.

Someone was already in Champagne. He had been there for two days already and was waiting ever so patiently for Josh, Jessica, and Samantha to return. If his friends had known he was there they probably would’ve tried to get home a little faster, but he wanted to surprise them. He was definitely going to do that. He just wasn’t sure if they would see it as a good surprise, or not.
He was praying they would be happy that he was home. That was a lot to ask though. He had broken all the promises he had made to them. He never called, or wrote, and he definitely didn’t come back to visit. He just didn’t know that by breaking those promises he had also broken a heart. Two of his ‘best friends’ wouldn’t welcome him back into their lives as easily as he had planned.
