ChildFind is a freely distributed software program that was designed for law enforcement to fingerprint children as a community service. This software enables the user to create an identification card for a child which includes all ten fingerprints, vital information and a photograph. This is extremely helpful for law enforcement to fight crimes against children.
This software has been generously been made available by law enforcement for those with a Digital Persona fingerprint scanner. These scanners are readily available in electronics stores, as well as online, including eBay, for those on a budget.

ChildFind Installation Instructions:
Requirements:
A computer running Windows 2000, Windows NT with Service Pack 4.0 or later, Windows Millennium, Windows 98, or Windows 95 with USB support. Conflicts have been reported under Windows XP.
Pentium-class processor
24MB RAM minimum
At Least One Available USB port.
A Digital Persona USB fingerprint scanner similar to the one pictured below:
Note: For Windows 95 Users:
In order for ChildFind to operate under Windows 95, it must be a version which supports USB. To determine this, simply right click on the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop and select 'Properties'. If there is a 'b' next to the version number, your software supports USB and this software will work with your machine.
Installation:
1) Important: Don't connect the USB fingerprint scanner until the installation program tells you to.
2) Download the ChildFind install files by clicking on the link above. You will be prompted to choose where to save the file on your hard drive. Make sure you remember where you choose so you can locate the file when it is done downloading.
3) Locate the downloaded file called 'Fingerprint'. Double click the program icon. A message will display stating that "The ChildFind install files will now extract to your Windows Desktop". Click OK. When the files are done extracting, a message will display stating "All files have been extracted to C:\WINDOWS\Desktop. Click OK again.
4) Go to your Windows Desktop and double click the folder Fingerprint to open it.
5) Double click the 'Install Me First" icon. (If the install program asks for a 'CAB' file, click Cancel and double click on the 'USBSCAN' file in the Fingerprint folder. This will install a necessary USB driver into your Windows Driver directory. When done, return to the Fingerprint folder and again double click on the 'Install Me First' Icon.)
6) Follow the Install instructions. DO NOT register the program, as it is a slimmed-down driver-only program.
7) When the installation is complete, again return to the Fingerprint folder and double click on 'Install Me Second'. Follow the installation instructions.
8) Restart your computer.
9) That's it, ChildFind is now installed. To begin using ChildFind, go to the Start Menu and select the 'ChildFind' icon under Programs. The ChildFind program will guide you through the rest!
