Through Thick And Through Thin

"Hey, A.J., we should call the police," Kevin pointed out after they had alighted the taxi and paid the driver. They were hiding behind a mailbox and watching as Carlos and another guy who resembled him slightly got out of the car.

"You're right. Got your cell?" A.J. asked.

"No, I left it at home," Kevin replied.

"Fuck, so did I," A.J. groaned, smacking his forehead.

"I guess we have to go in there, then," Kevin realized grimly.

A.J. groaned again. His eyes widened when he saw Carlos and the other man drag Linz and Katie, respectively, out of the van with some difficulty, as they were both struggling to free themselves. Kevin clenched his teeth when he saw his love and his little sister being treated like that, and he started to stand up angrily, but A.J. pulled him back down. "Not yet, man," he told Kevin, patting his shoulder. Kevin didn't respond. His eyes were fixed on Linz and Katie.

"All right, they're in," he murmured as they were both dragged inside an old apartment building that had been closed down a few years ago.

"Let's go," A.J. said, getting to his feet. He started towards the building with Kevin right behind him.

"Let go of me!" Katie shrieked as Thomas pulled her into a room and locked the door. Carlos had taken Linz somewhere else, and now she was alone. With the man who had the gun.

Thomas laughed cruelly and obliged. Katie immediately broke away, but when she took a look around her, she saw what he was laughing at. There was no way she could get out of the room. They were on the second floor, so the window was too high up, and he was guarding the door. Thomas started towards her, and she backed away fearfully, letting out a little whimper.

"Aw, are we scared?" Thomas cooed.

Katie narrowed her eyes at him. "Maybe you should be, but I'm not," she hissed before kneeing him hard in the groin. He groaned and stepped back in pain. She didn't waste time, immediately hurrying towards the door and starting to unlock.

She heard Thomas curse under his breath as she finished unlocking it and turned the knob, but the next sound immediately made her stop dead in her tracks.
