Through Thick And Through Thin

Chapter Nineteen

Linz looked up from her book when she heard the doorbell ring. She sighed and set the book down before stretching and standing up. Reading was one of the few escapes she had found from the hell that had been the last few weeks of her life.

Linz opened the door and frowned when she saw that no one was there. Pranksters were definitely not what she needed. She looked down, and her eyebrows shot up when she saw a white envelope underneath a small rock. Linz bent down and hesitantly picks up the letter. "LINZ BARNETTE" was written in block letters across the front. Linz moaned when she recognized the writing as Kevin's. Disgused, but Kevin's nonetheless. She wanted to throw it away, but she didn't have the heart. Sighing, she went inside and closed the door behind her.

Once she was alone at her kitchen table, she ripped open the envelope, and a two-page long letter fell out onto the table top. Sure enough, it was signed "Kevin 'Pumpkin' Richardson." Linz swallowed hard and started to read the letter from the beginning.

By the time she had reached the last paragraph, tears were running down her face and dripping onto the letter.

"...Sara was nothing, just someone who took advantage of my vulnerability, as I know Carlos was to you. You're the one, Linsey. It's you. It's always been you. And as trite as it may sound, you mean the world to me, and I would give anything to get you back. What else can I say? I love you, baby.
                 -Love Always and Forever-
                  Kevin 'Pumpkin' Richardson"

Linz put her hand to her mouth to try and hold back her shaky sobs. She was about to fold up the letter when a postscript caught her eye.

"P.S. If you think that there's even a chance that you can forgive me for being such a jerk, go out in your front yard now."

Linz's head snapped up, and she looked out the window into the front yard, gasping when she saw Kevin standing there with a single red rose, his eyes fixed on the front door. Linz ran for the door and threw it open.

"Kevin!" she cried.

His face lit up. "Linz..."

She took off towards him and threw her arms around his neck, covering his face with kisses. He laughed, dropping the rose, and swung her around in the air. He set her down and looked into her eyes before pulling her close and kissing her like he had never kissed her before.

"I'll forgive you if you'll forgive me," Linz managed to whisper breathlessly when they were finished, playing with the hair around his face.

"I did that a long time ago," Kevin replied. "I love you."

"I...mm," Linz interrupted herself as Kevin started to kiss down from her neck to her chest. "Kevin, people can see us."

"Well, that can be changed," Kevin returned. He moved back up and kissed her lips again before sweeping her body up in his ams and hurrying into the house.

"Uhhh..." Katie groaned as she woke up in A.J.'s arms, feeling a splitting pain in the back of her neck. Sleeping in the car like that had definitely been a mistake. She smiled and changed her mind, seeing A.J.'s face. He actually looked peaceful like that, even innocent. A.J.? Innocent? That's a good one, Katie, she thought, smirking. She leaned forward and kissed his lips until he woke up.

"Hey, baby," A.J. said, smiling groggily.

"Hey." She pressed her lips against his again and went along with him when he deepened the kiss, moving her legs so that she was straddling him. Katie smirked when she felt him become turned on but whimpered when he pushed her away.

"Maybe we shouldn't," A.J. hesitated, not believing the words that were coming out of his mouth.

"What?"

"Maybe we shouldn't do this," he repeated.

"Okay, who are you, and what have you done with the real A.J. McLean?" Katie asked with narrow eyes.

He laughed and kissed her. "I know it's not like me to say that, but we've been doing it so much lately, and, as much as I want to do it, I don't want that to be the only thing or relationship is about."

"That's so sweet, honey," Katie replied with a smile. "But when we've been doing it lately, it's just been physical," she pointed out. "Make it more than physical. Make it mean something." She leaned forward and kissed him before moving to whisper in his ear. "Make love to me, A.J."

A.J. pulled her back to where he could see her face. "Are you sure?" She nodded, and he grinned and pulled her close for another kiss. "Well, I can't say no to that," he replied as she pulled his shirt up over his head and started to kiss down his chest, using her tongue to make him moan. "Baby...we hafta go...inside," he panted.

Katie rolled her eyes and opened the door quickly. "Well, what are we waiting for? Come on!" she ordered, getting out of the car and pulling her boyfriend after her.
