Can't Say Why I Love You

Chapter Six

The next morning when the alarm went off, it woke up A.J., but Katie slept through it. A.J. was kind of glad because he loved to watch her looking so peaceful like that. He quickly got dressed, but before he left, he kissed her forehead to wake her up.

"I'm leaving, Katie," he whispered as she slowly opened her eyes. He kissed her.

"You're coming back tonight, right?" she asked hopefully.

"I can't."

"What? Why?" Katie asked, sitting up quickly in bed.

He laughed. "Because we're going to Denver and—"

"Linz will be in Denver, so Kevin gets a room with her and you're sharing with Howie," Katie realized. "Damn it, that sucks! My big brother gets some, but I don't!" she complained.

A.J. grinned and kissed her again. "You'll get your turn."

"Mm, good," Katie remarked. She glanced over at the clock. "You know, A.J., we still have fifteen minutes."

He shook his head. "I like the way your mind works, Katie Richardson, but I have to go."

"Okay...bye, A.J."

He kissed her passionately one final time. She moaned softly and put her hands on his chest, wanting more. He smiled, shook his head again, and stole quietly out of the room and down the hall.

Linz smiled to herself as she walked through the airport and towards Kevin and the Boys' gate. It had been about a month since she'd last seen Kevin, and she had really missed him. She turned a corner and gasped. In front of gate 27B, hundreds of girls were standing, being held back by security guards. Linz's jaw dropped. She tried to squeeze through the crowd but was greeted with dirty looks from the fans. Linz groaned in despair.

Suddenly even more screams erupted, and Linz saw that people were starting to spill out of the gate. Linz ran over to one of the security guards who wasn't being mobbed. "Hey...Zack!" she shouted, reading the name on his badge. "You have to help me! See, I'm Kevin's girlfriend—"

"Yeah, and I'm seeing Nick Carter," the guard retorted, rolling his eyes.

"No, I'm not kidding!" she pleaded, getting a piece of paper out of her wallet. It was a letter from Kevin. The guard took it and eyed her suspiciously. "My name is Linz. I swear! Please, we were planning to meet here, and—"

Linz was cut off as the screams got louder. She saw that Kevin himself had stepped into the terminal. Her face lit up. "Kev!" she shouted, waving frantically. She could see that his green eyes were searching the crowd for her. "Kevin!"

"Come with me!" the guard ordered, grabbing her by the wrist and pulling her off in another direction. Linz would have screamed but realized that it would do no good.

"Where are we going?!" Linz shouted.

"To find your boyfriend!" Zack replied. He pulled her out a back entrance to where the Backstreet tour bus was waiting. He rapped on the door, and the driver, recognizing Linz, opened the door.

"Hi, Linz," the bus driver said.

"Hey, Mike," Linz replied. "Thanks, Zack."

He nodded and walked away.

Linz grinned mischievously. "I'm going to hide in the back, Mike," she told him as she boarded the bus.
