Make Up Tips

  • Skin:
The healtier your skin is the better the foundation and all the other make up will stay on.

    Dry skin:
Use a moistrizing lotion after every face wash. If you experience irritaion or you think your skin is becoming oily use less frequently or buy an other lotion. It's very important to use a moistrizer. Dry skin tends to get wrinkles easier than oily skin. My Chemistry teacher said that the best anti-wrinkle treatment is a good moistrizer and a daily dose of Vitamin C.

Personal product tip: L'Oreal, Plenitude Hydrafresh

    Mixed skin:
Use moistrizing lotion on dry skin area and treatment against acne on oily areas.

Personal product tip: L'Oreal, Plenitude Hydrafresh; Clean&Clear, Invisible Blemish Treatment

    Oily skin:
Use treatment against acne on oily areas. Why use acne treatment against oily skin? Acne and oily skin have the same cause. You pores are producing too much oil. While some people tend to get bad acne others only have oily skin. However if you don't do something against your oily skin you can easily get acne and ugly black heads.

Personal product tip: Clean&Clear, Invisible Blemish Treatment; Neutrogena, Multi-Vitamin [Acne Treatment]

    General:
Use a good cleanser to wash you skin.
Personal product tip: Neutrogena, Deep Clean [Cream Cleanser]

Use a peeling mask once a week.
Personal product tip: Nivea Visage, Intensive Reinigungsmaske

  • Foundation:
The foundation is the key to every good make up. The better the foundation is the longer the make up you're wearing will look fresh and stay on.

    Oily skin:
Use powder as foundation. It will keep your skin from looking shiny and unlike a liquid foundation or cream powder it won't make your skin even more oily.

Personal product tip: Covergirl, fresh look [pressed powder]

    Mixed skin:
Use cream powder. Your skin won't look shiny neither dry.

Personal product tip: Maybelline, Express Maykeup 3 in 1

    Dry skin:
Use liquid foundation. Your dry skin needs the moistrize of the foundation, but make sure your foundation doesn't contain oil. It might cause you pimples and black heads if you use it often. Apply with a little sponge.

  • Blush:
Blush is always good if your pale or taned. It gives you a vivid glow. You just have to be very careful about which color of blush you choose and not to apply to much.

Personal product tip: Maybelline, Express Blush

  • Eye Shadow:
    NR. 1 RULE:
Never use a certain eye shadow color just because you like the color. Make sure it fits your eye color and never use an eye shadow to the extreme. Use brushes. It makes applying easier and you can create better effects.

    Colors:
Brown eyes: brown, dark green, raisin, etc.
    Blue eyes: silver, blue, etc.
Green eyes: brown, green, silver, etc.

Personal product tip: Revlon, Wet/Dry Shadow

  • Eye Liner:
    NR. 1 RULE:
Never use a certain eye liner color just because you like the color. Make sure it fits your eye color and never use an eye liner to the extreme.

    Colors:
Brown eyes: brown, dark green, raisin, etc.
    Blue eyes: silver, blue, etc.
Green eyes: brown, green, silver, etc.

Personal product tip: Covergirl, CG Smoothers

  • Mess Ups:
If you mess up your eye shadow/liner use L'Oreal Eye MakeUp Remover. To remove my make up I usually use Nivea Creme, but if I mess up I take one of these ear cleaning things soak it with the eye makeup remover and carefully clean the messed up area. Trust me it's the best and you can go on doing your make up if nothing ever happened.

  • Lip Stick:
Be careful which lip stick you choose. Many lip sticks make your lips feel dry. If you already bought such lip sticks go and buy yourself a transparent lip gloss. You can mix the lip gloss and the lip stick so you can still use them. However if you haven't bought any yet. Buy a lip stick/gloss combination. There are a lot of these coming out from all kind of firms.

Personal product tip: Maybelline, Wet Shine

  • Eye Lashes:
Nothing's sexier than thick, long lashes. Make sure not to use a mascara that sticks your lashes together. It looks not well done and cheap. Buy a eye lash brush. I use one and if you do have a mascara that makes your lashes stick together or you used too much mascara you can seperate them. I use two kind of mascaras. First I use one to get all the tiny lashes and then one that makes them look full and long. Afterwards I brush them with my eye lash brush.

Personal product tip: Maybelline, Full'N'Soft [Mascara]; Maybelline, Lash Discovery [MiniBrush Mascara]

  • Eye Brows:
Yuck! Eye brows that almost grow together or are plugged to no end.

    Rules:
Make a border at the area you want to plug with a eye brow pencil to stay in line.

Take a break after a few hairs, step back and look if your still doing right.

If you've pluged too much don't go and plug too much on your other brow too.
(It may look stupid at the moment, but eye brow hairs grow back slow and some might never grow back. [That's a fact.])

Never plug from top to bottom. Always from the underline of your brow upwards.

Choose a brow shape that fits you face.

Don't overdo it and NEVER EVER shave you eye brows and paint them with a eye brow pencil.
(I once saw this woman who did that and she just touched her face, because she was sweating and she 'smeared' her brows. How embarassing! Everybody was staring at her and she had no clue. Want that happening to you?)

  • All these tips are given out of personal experience. All products suggested are used by me. You should see my make up closet. Yes closet. My mom's best friend IS make up artist. I'll be back soon and explain how to do smokey eyes etc., but I think that's enough for today.
