Underlying

Sometimes I question
what he is really thinking.
It is only a joke I know.
But is it possible,
for something to come
from laughter?
Something odd happens
whenever he comes around.
I can't tell what I should do,
I can't tell what I should say,
so I'll hide behind laughter.
Anymore I just can't tell.
I don't know what I think,
I don't know what I feel,
but I do know how to laugh.
What does all this mean?
Is laughter my mask?
Are there deeper feelings
lying under my laughter?
Sometimes I question
what I am really thinking.
And then I laugh.
