Prince of the Pasture
Written by Torrie DeMore

My eyes drift across the fields
of glittery white snow,
searching for my horse.
I whistle and call his name
and listen to his neigh
echoing back at me.
From out of the thick woods,
I see a streak of brown,
racing across the pure whiteness.
Faster and faster he gallops on,
gaining speed with every stride.
He effortlessly leaps over the frozen creek,
landing easily on the other side.
As he nears the gate,
he slows to a trot,
gracefully prancing closer.
With his neck arched nobly,
he halts in front of me,
like he's prince of the pasture.
