Summer vacation for pop star Aaron Carter isn't the typical day at the beach.

The 14-year-old singer, who has come to be known as the Prince of Pop, wrapped up his school year last week to spend his three-month summer vacation traveling across the country for his 'Rock, Rap and Retro Tour.'

Aaron will make a few stops near the Miami Valley, first at the Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus on Wednesday and then at Paramount's King's Island Timberwolf Amphitheater near Mason on Aug. 10. Aaron has finished his next album, Another Earthquake , scheduled to be in stores Aug. 20, and said he looks forward to spending the next few months on tour.

'You can't do something you don't like,' he said. 'I wouldn't do it anymore if it stopped being fun.'

From the age of 2, Aaron has been performing, even if it was just around his living room singing and dancing, he said. But he knew he wanted to make singing a career after watching his older brother, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, perform.

'I've had news reporters coming to my house since I was 3 to interview my brother,' Aaron said, explaining that handling a singing career at such a young age comes naturally to him from watching Nick. 'He used to take me on his lap and put me in the pictures all the time.'

Having only one brother and three sisters, one who is his twin, Aaron said he has developed a close relationship with Nick.

'We talk all the time,' Aaron said. 'I'm really the only person who can understand him.'

Aaron performed with the Backstreet Boys during a concert in Germany in 1997. He released the album Aaron's Party (Come Get It) in 2000, and it sold 2.6 million copies. He followed with the platinum-selling album Oh Aaron in 2001.

Although Aaron said his albums are each different from one another, they all feature a similar type of music. This new album will have a 'little taste of everything,' from all his music, he said.

When he's not recording or on tour, Aaron said he loves to go spear fishing with his friends. And being onstage and performing isn't Aaron's only wish.

'I'd like to be a marine biologist,' said Aaron, who has spent a lot of time scuba diving behind his home in Florida Keys. 'I hate to see people destroy the ocean so that is one dream I've always had.'
