BLACKJACK: CLINICAL CHART I

BLACKHACK: CLINICAL CHART I was a work that I was not familiar with, but I am overjoyed that I picked it up for review. Created by Osamu Tezuka, the creator of ASTRO BOY and KIMBA THE WHITE LION, BLACKJACK lives up to all the expectations one would have for one of the fathers of anime today. Well thought-out and well-drawn, this tale is solid and keeps a viewer's interest from start to finish.

The story begins as BlackJack is transported to a remote island to treat a mysterious disease. The backgrounds of the characters in the story are well developed, and a sense of urgency is nurtured by the knowledge that death could strike very suddenly at any time to BlackJack's patient, unless BlackJack can find a cure quickly.

I was impressed by the depth and pacing of this anime - it all seemed to flow so smoothly. This is another work that will probably find a home upon my shelf some day. I recommend it very highly, dubbed or subtitled, for anyone that enjoys a good, solid story. I usually prefer subtitles, but the dubbing is tastefully done, without sounding goofy.
