Nic's Filmography

1998

Young & Dangerous: The Prequal (Koo Wak Tsai)

This movie is pretty good. It is, as Nic once stated, rated X. I think it's not too bad as it's got the things a typical American rated R movie has. Some brief sexual parts. I have never seen the other Young & Dangerous movies, but I feel this movie is good for teens. Basically, it's a movie about four bad students that get kicked out of school and join a gang. There are some pretty gross parts too: rats, and injuries. I shouldn't give out too much. Nic gives a good performance for his acting debut. Sam Lee Chan Sum, Hsu Kei, Lillian Ho, Law Lang, Daniel Ng, and Francis Ng are also in it.

1999

Gen X Cops (Duk King Sun Yun Lui)

I clearly did not mean for this picture to get so big, but as you might already know, I'm having trouble with all my pictures. Anyway, this movie is fantastic. It's got everything a teen wants. Hot stars, action, a bit of humor, and even a bit of drama. Some of the characters have the weirdest names in the world: Alien and Y2K. Modern enough for you? The plot is basically a man picks 3 new cadets to help solve a crime. Other than Nic, the actors are: Grace Ip Pui Man, Sam Lee Chan Sum, Stephen Fung Duk Lun, Eric Tsang Tsi Wai, and Daniel Ng. This movie is all good. I watched it 4 times in a row.

A Hero From China (Tsung Wah Ying Hung)

This movie is fly. Although the movie is not completely based on Nic's character, rather more on Ekin Cheng's, it's pretty cool. Many special effects. This movie may appeal to many people, as there is drama and action. Ekin's character, Hero, finds he puts a curse on everything who is near him. (They die or something.) Thus, he must leave his son, the character played by Nic. Years later, Hero's son goes to the US to find his long lost father and learns of his father's heroism. Hmm . . . . there's a good cast here. Other than Nic and Ekin, there's Kristy Yeung, Hsu Kei, and Grace Yip Pui Man. Pretty cool. (Nic made me cry in the movie!!)

The Mirror (Moh Geng)

This movie is weird. There are about 3-4 stories in it. Nic is in the last one, so you kind of have to wait a while. Nic plays a grandson who comes home to see his grandma after going to school in Canada. He brings home his Canadian girlfriend. They go buy a mirror which they think looks cool and things start to happen. Keep in mind that this is supposed to be a horror movie. It's supposed to be scary. I laughed almost all the way through. Only one part, the part with Lillian Ho's character in the closet, scared the hell out of me. Other than that, it was a pretty light, funny movie. There are a lot of people in this movie, many of whom are not that famous. Here are the names of the actors in Nic's story part: Nic, Lillian Ho Ka Lei, Ruby Lin Xing Rhu, and Law Lang.

Metade Fumaca (Buen Tsi Yin)

This is a nice movie appealing probably more towards the girls. A former gangster by the name of Killer Leopard is diagnosed as having Alzheimer's Disease and returns to Hong Kong with a half cigarette to meet the woman he fell in love with for the last time. When he arrives, he meets Smokey, a young street hustler, and he gets Smokey to help him. Meanwhile, Smokey's mother, a hooker, remembers the identity of his father: he was a policeman. Ironically, Smokey also falls for a beautiful lady cop who once arrested him. This movie is sad although not too much on Nic's part. Some parts are funny, some parts are cool. The plot kind of drags on, but great to watch Nic as he gives a terrific performance in his first drama. He won a best actor award for this movie. I think it was the Golden Horse Awards. Characters in this movie other than Nic: Eric Tsang Tsi Wai, Hsu Kei, Kelly Chan Wai Lam, Sandra Ng Kwun Yu, Stephen Fung, and Sam Lee Chan Sum.

2000

Winner Takes All (Dai Yeng Gah)

This movie is kinda funny. Not as good as I expected. I don't know about you guys, but I thought Nic looked extra cute in his ponytail, glasses, and green shirt. I loved how he did a little twirl near the beginning. Pretty much it's about swindlers. This great swindler boasts about all his successes to an author to publish a book. The whole movie is kinda like a story he tells. Anyway, there are a lot of bits that are hard to explain. This is Nic's first comedy, and I think he did a marvelous job. One part Nic dresses up as a father. Very funny . . . . I guess it's worth a look at it, because there are great stars, and an OK plot. The stars in it are: Nic, Ruby Lin, Sam Hui, Joey Yung, Alex Tu, and Mak Ka. This movie is great for people of all ages. It may appeal a bit more to parents.
