chris here from jagjaguwar.
darius and i have been listening in depth to the Fairmoore project and have really been enjoying it. there's some really incredible songs between the 2 discs you 2 have sent. we really appreciate you sending everything our way. your 2 cds, r. stevie, are really fantastic as well...Phonography is my favorite of the two (great liner notes!!)...
well, we've been discussing it at length, and we feel at this time it'd be better for us to pass on doing the Fairmoore album. we both really like the album, but in order for us to feel comfortable releasing an album it's very important to us that we feel inordinantly in love with it. if it's one thing you guys deserve, it's to have your albums released by people who are empassioned by them. i think it's especially imporant -- given that you're both so prolific -- for the label to be able to make the album stand out as something that's very near & dear to them.
we really do value that you took the time and considered us worthy of releasing the album. it means a lot to us. if there's anything i can do please let me know.
