BIOGRAPHY
June 10, 1981... Just another day for most of the world, but this day was the day that Hoku entered the world. Named Hoku (which means Star in Hawaiian), her dad says, because when he first saw her, the stars in her eyes melted his heart, she has always been destined to become something much greater than just a Hawaiian beauty... she was on her way to becomming a Star! Hoku has been singing as long as she can remember. She started singing in her dad's shows when she was just a toddler, and performed her first solo when she was only 11. She sang Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", and as her father remembers, She blew them away! After that, she became a regular part of her dad's show.

After Hoku grauated from La Pietra School for Girls she started attending San Diego's Point Loma Nazarene University majoring in Business. When she was offered a spot on the Snow Day soundtrack, after being discovered while performing in her dad's show, she jumped at it! With the success of "Another Dumb Blonde" Hoku decided to put her College Plans on hold. She says "I've put my original goals of finishing college and recording an album of contemporary Christian music on hold for a while to enjoy this. I'm really enjoying the whole width and breath of this experience: the television, the cameras, the press." Who can Blame her? Until recently, the most famous of Hoku's performances was singing the National Anthem with her dad at a Chicago Bulls basket ball game in 1997. With high spirits and a positive outlook, Hoku is on her way to becomming the Star that she has always been destined to become.

Though Hoku would love to be as popular as Britney Spears, or Christina Aguilera, she is uncomfortable with being a sex symbol mostly due to her faith. A Pentecostal Christian since fisrt attending church in 1995, Hoku enjoys being involved with younger kids. She says "They relate to me being the girl next door." The girl next door, who is said to love Lemon Jolly Ranchers and Video Games, just likes to sit around and rest during her free time. Which Hoku doesn't have much of. Ever since signing a recording contract with Geffen Records in October 1999, Hoku has been working hard to get her self-title debut album ready to be released, even canceling a spot opening for LFO on thier east coast tour. Now that her album is ready, and is going to be released May 2, 2000 Hoku is finally about to reach the Star that she has been headed for. Hoku says "It's so exciting to have worked so hard for so long for something and to finally see it come to life, other than my family and faith, nothing means more to me than music."

Even after Hoku has reached that Star, she will continue to shine... She will always be the Star of our hearts! She will always be the girl next door.
