Into The Millennium Tour-9/23/99-Continental Airlines Arena

OMIGOD! We are actually thinking about taking our site down due to the perfection displayed by the Backstreet Boys last night! Actually, we aren't taking the site down, sorry to scare you, but we are dead serious, the boys were PERFECT in every way last night, and we can't believe it's already over, just like that! So let's get started...

The Stage:

It was a pentagon-shape(5-sided). The band members had a mini stage for themselves, and then in the middle was a smaller stage that rose above the rest and at certain points of the show, it moved. Ok, now on to the concert.

EYC was their opening act and THEY SUCKED!!!!!! Ok, now on to BSB...

Larger Than Life

First the dancers entered onto the stage, and all the guys were holding torches in the air. They marched in military fashion around the stage. Then, only five rows in front of us came the Backstreet Boys! They were so damn close to us it was almost like a dream. Then they flew slowly to the stage and and the dancers helped them out of the harnesses. Then a huge rest of the song is sort of a blur. We think AJ laughed, but were too excited to notice. They sang the whole first part of the song in front of us! Woo hoo! And the dancing and vocals were so extremely perfect, we swear, they are GODS!

Get Down

At the end of LTL, the boys ended up on top of the center of the stage, which was a small stage that rose above the rest of the stage. That's where they begin Get Down. This song went pretty quick. We remember AJ's rap, and part of the dance, but that's about it.

The One

OK, I (Stephanie) was very much looking forward to this song, and I was changing my film, and my camera gave me problems, and I missed almost the whole freakin song! Damn was I pissed. But here's Gina's take on it, since I didn't see shit! The One was very good, and they sounded amazing - as always. They danced a little bit, and mostly walked around the stage.

Introductions:

Nick

He came out and said hello. Then he said he wanted to tell us where they were this year. "We were making our new album Millennium if anyone heard about it." Then everyone screamed and he said, "So u have heard of it." (No, we just came to the concert to hear all their old songs, what was he thinking?) And he said if we are really good they may come tour again. He sounds like Santa Claus or something.

AJ

Damn did he look HOT!!!! "My name is AJ, otherwise known as Bone." We'd like to bone him! LOL. He is so sweet! He said even though it was hard to see the audience with the bright lights, he knew there were lots of beautiful women in NJ who had come to see them. How cute! He also told us that his mom is from NJ, which also makes us feel extra special! Then he made us say EYC, which we didn't do cuz they sucked. He said "They're my boys." AJ's only downfall, I think we can forgive him!

Howie

He said something like "Jersey girls got it goin' on", and that's all we remember him saying.

Brian

"I'm speechless. All you people coming to see us, I'm speechless." So that's Brian, at a lose for words. Ok, he thanked us, and that was about it.

Kevin

Kevin came out and blabbed about himself. Then he introduced their tour manager and explained that it was his birthday so they had to sing to him. And then they brought him on stage.

Happy Birthday

We felt special cuz no one else is gonna have Happy Birthday sung to someone at their concert. Nick said it was also his dad's birthday but he wasn't there. But it was really good and of course they sounded perfect, as usual!

As Long As You Love Me

They started this whole song in front of us too. We had a good side!!!!! They had on long black jackets with white shirts underneath, and AJ was wearing a black hat backwards. Did we mention how fine he looked? Brian looked adorable as always too. It sounded great. They did the chair dance on the other side of the stage, so we watched most of it on the screen, but it was perfect. And when the guy dancers did that one part where they have to catch the chairs, one guy dropped it. But that's ok. No one's perfect. In 53 shows, they are bound to mess up once in a while.

Don't Wanna Lose You Now

They sounded perfect, but what else would you expect? This song was beautiful and of course they looked great. They stood around the higher part of the stage and they sat. But the sound was great. Brian was in front of us which was great. We had him on our side a lot!

Quit Playin Games

They changed their outfits again! They were all in black this time. Most of the song they walked around and sang. And at the end, they all took a part of the stage and sat down. While they finished the song, the stage crew came and hooked the harnesses to them, but they weren't distracting at all. Then the band started the fast version of the song (Like on ANOWBSB) and the Backstreet Boys were flying! Brian was the one who flew by us. And he was pretty adventurous, we think he's over his fear of heights. To the left of us was Howie, who was throwing people roses but we weren't close enough to get any. Next to him was AJ. Then Nick was next to him, who we couldn't see, but Kevin was on the right of Brian, so that's where Nick had to be. Kevin did lots of flips. AJ and Brian did a lot of "swimming" in the air. Howie did a few flips, but nothing like the rest of them. They all looked like they were having a blast. Then they eventually flew back and the dancers helped them out of their harnesses.

Don't Want You Back

How did we get so lucky? AJ was in front of us for this song, for his song! Wow were we happy! They did another quick change. They each had a ladder that the stuck in the stage. Brian actually climbed to the top of his, which also led us to believe he is losing his fear of heights. Nick's seemed a little wobily, and a few times, we were scared he might fall but he never did, thank God! AJ only climbed up a few steps then hung backwards and upside down while he sang. Then he got down and basically stood and bounced around for the rest of the song. There was some choreography but most of the time the guys were on their ladders.

The Perfect Fan

Kevin explained that the next song was written by Brian and that they wanted to dedicate it to all the mom's in the audience. Then they brought out 5 mother/daughter pairs who each went with a different Backstreet Boy. We thought they would be little kids, but only the girl with Kevin was. The rest were at least 16. The girl with Kevin was cute, she was so excited and kept mouthing "OMIGOD". They all sounded beautiful on this song. AJ acted a little nutty, especially for it being that song, we were a bit surprised, but it was cute. He pretended to play the xylophone which was cute. Then near the middle of the song, they each took the hand of their young girl and walked around the stage with her while singing. We were very jealous! Then when they got back to their moms, the girls sat back down and the guys knelt in front of them and sang a line right to the moms. Then they stood up, faced the audience, and finished the song. It was great, but it would have been cooler if a choir was there, but what can you do? It's still an unbelievable song!

Back To Your Heart

A white grand piano rose from the center stage and Kevin was joined by Mindi and the two played a song, just music, no words. It got a little long, but then they went right into Back To Your Heart. It took us a few seconds to figure out if the rest of the guys were even on stage. But when AJ started singing, we knew they were somewhere. Then we looked up at the screen and so them sitting and that meant they were on the other side of the stage. It only sucked cuz that was the only song that they didn't get up and walk around at all. But of course they sounded amazing. We all also made the comment that the group looked kinda cool with just the four of them (cuz Kev was still at the piano.) When the song was over, the boys left the stage yet again, and the piano was brought up to the ceiling.

Everybody (Backstreet's Back)

The middle stage rose again, this time with a net on it and the dancers were hanging from it. After it rose all the way, the dancers came down and the boys entered the stage. They each took a section and each had their set of dancers too. Brian again was on our side, damn we were so lucky. AJ was also on our side. They were both amazing. This song wasn't very long cuz Nick didn't do his solo, instead it turned into...

We've Got It Goin' On

Somewhere at the beginning of this song, Brian grabbed AJ's ass! Don't know why, but he did! They did the majority of this song on our side as well. The praying was in front of us, and damn was it so cute! The dancing was really cool, and of course they were having a blast. And when they do that little dance in a straight line, AJ was doing all these lasso jumps and stuff. It was hilarious but it fit his outfit, they were all dressed in white and gold and he had on a white and black cowboy hat. It was AJ being AJ but it looked so HOT! Then the end of this song also went straight into the next song which was...

That's The Way I Like It

They changed the choreography from last year's tour, and this time all the dancers were involoved. It was almost like a skit, the dancers and BSB flirting and chasing each other around and stuff. It was pretty cute. They made they way all the way around the stage and then by the end of the song, they each were at their section on the stage, with AJ and Brian again on our side! :) It was very well done and fun to watch.

Spanish Eyes

And yet another costume change! Now they were in pink and gray suits, and they looked HOT! They were sitting around the raised center stage, and throughout the next few songs, the stage moved slowly so everyone got a good view of each Backstreet Boy. This song sounded good, and Howie sounded exceptional!

I'll Never Break Your Heart

This was it's usually song, AJ and Brian sounded great, and so did the rest of them. There was nothing really different about this one.

No One Else Comes Close

This is the most sensual, beautiful song ever written and AJ and Nick sang it wonderfully! The harmonies were amazing! They all sounded great. AJ was great at the end when he goes really high for his last line! The one thing we missed? AJ's "Damn I love you" at the end. You know he would have been so into it too if he had said it.

All I Have To Give

The hat dance! And they all looked so cute in the hats too! They did the first part of this song on our side and did hat dance on the other side which we mostly watched on the screen. The harmonies were incredible and the guy dancers are cute too! Even though we are all use to this dance, it is still fun to watch.

Show Me The Meaning

The boys again stood on top of the raised part of the stage, and the girl dancers each took a corner of the stage and they seemed to be inappropriately dressed for such a sentimental song. Howie explained that this was the last song the worked on with Dennis Pop and the song was dedicated to him. It was hard not to be distracted by the girls, but their dancing looked really dumb. When it got close to the music break of the song, each boy joined one of the girls and AJ and Brian were again on our side. They danced with the girls and it was very cute. But when the girls danced alone, they looked very stupid.

It's Gotta Be You

Wow did they all look FINE for this song! Brian was wearing a white shirt with a light blue windbreaker over it which is his best color. AJ was wearing a black hat backwards and a red and white windbreaker with NOTHING underneath it, and his chest is gorgeous! Yummy! Nick had on a tight black long-sleeved shirt with a dragon on one sleeve. Howie had on a black shirt with a black sweatshirt jacket over it. Don't remember what Kevin was wearing, think it was a black shirt. AJ and Brian looked the best! They stretched this song out, cuz it was also when they introduced the dancers and the band. In the middle of the song, the AJ said, "I think there's a little dance competition goin on." Then after they danced a few seconds, the dancers paired up, guy/girl and the boys took their turn introducing them. When they introduced Roro, we were very loud for him, cuz we had the chance to meet him before the concert and he was really nice, and hot. The rest went on the same way, the pairs did a little dance after their introduction. Then came the band. We were very excited that Tommy was right in front of us and so was Mindi who seemed really cool but had a funky-strange hairstyle. For these we didn't pay too much attention cuz AJ and Brian were up on the raised part of the stage acting crazy. It was fun to watch. Boy were we jealous of Mindi though. Of course AJ had to be the one to introduce the only female in the band. Well, after he told us who she was, she started playing, and AJ got down on his knees, pulled off his jacket, and she played right over him! Damn we were so jealous and wanted to be her during that part of the show! Then when she was done she made a "yes" jesture with her arm. And AJ looked pretty pleased with her performance. Oh he is so PERFECT! Brian introduced Tommy, who played while Brian held a towel over his eyes. He is so amazingly talented!!!! Then Nick said they had to intro a new band member and we were a bit confused. Then we realized it was Howie, with his hood on his head and he did this really funny rap and he danced so funny. He did the running man and everything! He really won us over with that one! It was so cute and hilarious! Finally, they finished the song and it was one of the biggest highlights of the night!

I Want It That Way

We couldn't believe when this song came on, cuz we knew it was the last song of the night, yet we were very excited to see them perform it. It started off normally but by the first chorus they had all stopped singing and the music stopped too. We thought they did this to hear us sing, but it continued through to Kevin's part til the guys realized the mics had went out. Haha, big joke, although we kinda figured it out then that it had all been planned. So they said sorry and decided to start the song over from the beginning, which made us very happy cuz we were angry that we had missed AJ's part. AJ then pretended to yell at the mic people for screwing up. So then they did the song over, and sounded great, especially AJ and Kevin's part. This song sounded perfect and when AJ sang the last line, we were very depressed that the show was actually over! They said thank you, and all the dancers and the band all lined up and bowed on every side of the stage.

And that was it, we had to go home, but it was definitely the best concert ever and we were sad that it was over but excited that we were lucky enough to be there.
