Duran Duran Then...A History in Summary

When Duran Duran formed, their name came from the character 'Duran Duran' in the sci-fi classic "Barbarella." In 1981, at a time where New Wave music would soon hit the mainstream, Duran Duran formed in all glory. Simon, a child actor, would come to bear as their singer, along with Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Andy Taylor, and Roger Taylor. With this birth, came such hits as:

Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, New Moon on Monday, Girls on Film, Ordinary World, Come Undone, and many many countless more...

The History

As the hits came spawning, it seemed as if Duran Duran's members looked toward opening and closing doors. With the likes of the Power Station (A Taylor effort) and Arcadia's success, solo projects deemed the band from each other. A performance for Bob Geldof's Live Aid would bring the members back together, but for the last time...

The Wedding Album and Beyond...

Once John Taylor had left, then there were three, so to speak...

With the critically acclaimed 'comeback' in 'The Wedding Album,' Duran Duran found themselves back on the charts with 'Ordinary World' and 'Come Undone.'

With such success came their 1997 effort, 'Meddazaland,' which led to the likes of 'Electric Barbarella' and showing the world a new Duran Duran, minus the ever popular John Taylor. A new album to follow 'Meddazaland' was in the works...

The Return of Pop Trash and a Look at the Members

Duran Duran, after a much acclaimed 'Behind the Music' special on Vh-1, returned to the studio once more, for their eleventh album. The now-released 'Pop Trash' seems as a return to form, with the same Duran sound we all love, with new extras, a somewhat new take on sound, and the most wonderful first single, 'Someone Else Not Me.' It may also not be forgotten that such standouts as 'Playing with Uranium,' 'Hallucinating Elvis,' and 'Lady Xanax' are what makes the album so soothing, wonderful, and a bit of a mix when it comes to a Duranie's ears.

Thanks to 'Pop Trash' and it's release, Duran Duran fans are once again back on the trail to see their favorite band in concert, on tour from July through September.
