*NSYNC Win Big at Teen Choice Awards
Date: August 13th

*Nsync, Destiny's Child and Britney Spears were big winners at the Teen Choice Awards, which even netted an appearance by actor Ben Affleck.

Boy band *Nsync picked up awards for best single for Pop and for best album, while Spears was named favourite female artist.

"Thank you so much for doing this for me," she told the audience Sunday at the third annual award show. "It's just such an honour being voted by all my peers."

Members of the girl group Destiny's Child said they were surprised to beat out stiff competition like *Nsync, O-Town and The Backstreet Boys to win the award for favourite pop group.

The show was staged at the Universal Amphitheatre and will air Aug. 20 on Fox. Votes for favourite actors, musicians and athletes were cast on forms published in Seventeen magazine and made available online.

Along with appearances by a number of superstars, the audience was treated to performances from the likes of Lil' Bow Wow and the girl group Dream.

One nominee surprised fans with his appearance.

Actor Ben Affleck, who is currently in treatment for alcohol abuse, came out to pick up two awards, including favourite actor.

"I actually wasn't going to be here, but I felt like it was important, because this actually means a lot to me because it's voted on by you guys," he said.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who plays the title character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer accepted the award for extraordinary achievement.

"I'm honoured that all of you guys think I'm a role model," she said. "So believe in yourself and go for it."

Justin and Britney One on One

'Britney's So Lonely'

Love through a lens can be tricky. Just ask Justin and Britney.

At last! They've finally done it. Britney Spears and *Nsync babe Justin Timberlake have admitted they're head over heels in love with each other. Now it's out in the open there'll be no more of that `we're just good friends,' nonsense. And no more arriving separately at parties or trying to keep their distance from one another. It must be a huge relief for the happy couple.

Justin says they came clean because Britney didn't want to hide their romance any longer, and he backed her decision. "The decision to make it public was hers, and I gave her that option," he says. But what took them so long? If we'd been snogging one of the most delicious boys in celebdom, we'd want to tell the whole world about it. He laughs. "It's not that she cared that people knew we were together, it's that she didn't want to seem like that girl goes out with that guy. And I didn't want to seem like that guy going out with that girl.

Ever since Britney decided to spill the beans, she hasn't stopped talking about how their love is the real thing. In fact, she told one newspaper: "It's a great feeling. He's perfect. We're soulmates." Now, most lads we know would be sprinting into the sunset when faced with all this girlie gushing. But not Justin – he's a mature kind of guy. He says: "When I read Britney's interviews, I feel the same way anyone would feel when someone else says openly that they love you. It makes me feel happy." Bless! No wonder Britney feel for this boy.

Love Versus Fame

But what's life like for them now they're officially an item? Obviously, they no longer have to put up wit the endless `are they? Aren't they?' speculation, but now it seems they're facing even more media scrutiny. And that's as well as having to deal with spending so much time away from each other."There are no secrets to having a successful relationship in the public eye," Justin says.

"We're apart more than we're together, but we both have successful careers and can't grumble about that. We talk all the time on our mobiles and catch up when we can. We see each other as much as possible." Having the same job also helps them deal with potential problems - like the attention each gets from fans of the opposite sex. It means they don't get jealous, Justin says, adding: "Without our fans we wouldn't be where we are today and we're grateful for the support." Despite the glitz and glamour of working in the music industry. Justin says when he and Britney do manage to get together; they do the same thing as us mere mortals. "We don't really have a typical night in together - it would depend on how we were both feeling - but we'd probably have a pizza or maybe go see a movie or something like that," he says. "When Britney said openly that she was in love with me, I felt happy"

On the Road

Another pressure on many celebrity relationships is when one partner is known better than the other. Does Justin resent the fact that Britney is more famous than he is? No way! He explains: "The Mr Britney Spears' stuff only really happens in the UK. In the US, it's sometimes the other way round. Britney and I are talented artists and obviously, we'd both prefer to be recognised for our music but, when it doesn't work out that way, we cope with it."

Just to prove that he's defiantly not Mr Britney Spears, Justin is currently in the middle of a massive US tour with *Nsync. And the band release their new album Celebrity on July 23rd. Justin says: "We've experimented with different styles of music to create a futuristic sound. We've used everything we've learnt in the past few years so the *Nsync sound has really improved. We recorded loads of tracks for the album but only 12 or 13 of them will be used. We've all helped out writing the material, so each song is special to us."

Jet–Set Life

While many popstars moans about the downside of fame, Justin clearly loves his job: "The perks? I guess it's being able to do what I love for a job. And we get to travel and meet some great people."The band members are all great mates too, says Justin. "I have stuff in common with all the guys, but Chris and I have the same interests. We always talk about sports, and we have a lot of the same views on family and spirituality.

"JC is probably the one I'd go to if I had some sort of personal problem ` cause he's so easy to talk to and always gives me great advice." "If I need cheering up, I'd go to Joey or Chris. They are both really funny people – Joey is a clown, while Chris is very quick-witted. "The guys don't tease me about being seen as the pretty boy. We're all heartthrobs so we tease each other. Joey is a ladies' man. Chris is more subtle but always gets the girl, but I can be a bit insecure." It didn't stop you getting your girl though, did it Justin? But with such a close-knit band thing going on, and despite the rumours of a possible future musical collaboration with Brit, it sounds like he has no plans to follow her into a solo career.

"Each of us has our own projects. We each have ambitions, but I'm not sure about a solo career. We're all committed to the group and I can't imagine that'll ever change."

Maybe it's because, through Britney, he has a real understanding of the problems of being a solo star.

"I think I get the better deal, being in a group. We have each other to goof around with, but Britney gets so lonely when she's touring," he says. But somehow we suspect she doesn't stay lonely for long!!

The Five Guys of *NSYNC
Date: August 11th
Source: nsyncwebguide.com, MusicScene Magazine

Being a member of what many are now calling "The Biggest Band in the World" can not possibly be considered a bad thing can it? There are millions of girls in love with you and even more millions of dollars in your pocket, so what could in any way suck about that? Well what if you are Joey Fatone or Chris Kirkpatrick of the mega-famous pop act Nsync and the only thing you see when you open a magazine with your group on the cover is the smiling face’s of your three other band mates. First off that is not to say that Joey and Chris are not somewhere in the pictorial of the quintet they just aren’t in the pullout posters.

After the release of the Orlando-based group’s fourth studio album critics made fans quite aware that the album entitled Celebrity should have been more appropriately titled "Timberlake, Chasez and Three Other Guys." Celebrity is by far an album that shows that there are some leadership reigns in Nsync and by the sound of it, those reigns are being pulled by Justin Timberlake 20, and 24 year-old JC Chasez. The two are the only ones responsible for lead vocals on all of Celebrity’s 13 tracks, with the remainder of the band Fatone 24, Kirkpatrick 29, and Lance Bass 22 to fill in the background with remarkable but genuinely underused harmonies.

This is no new news to longtime Nsync fans who have come to realize that no matter how long they beg and scream for the other three to take the mic solo, it just isn’t going to happen so they have given up and have gotten used to it. However, it seems that there might be more unequal power in the Nsync camp then just the handling of lead vocals. In fact when you look at things from a reporters, photographers, marketers, or even a fans point of view you might see that in a band of five members many people only see three.

That is right I said three. Don’t be fooled by the fact that Lance Bass was labeled by the critics as one of those "Other Guys", he is in fact one of the "IT" guys in Nsync. A few years back when Nsync was literally the new kids on the music block, Bass was stated by Rolling Stone magazine as being "the one you forget is even a member", but times have changed. They have changed so much the when the same magazine released separate covers featuring each member that Bass’s soloed cover was produced in the same quantity as those featuring Chasez and Timberlake. In numbers terms that is roughly double of those covers produced featuring Fatone and Kirkpatrick.

So why has Lance Bass suddenly become so marketable in a group that just a small time ago only had two standouts? That answer is quite simple: in teenager terms Lance became a hottie. No longer the group shy guy, Bass has become a full on celebrity sex symbol. Combining his natural good looks, with southern charm, designer clothes, laid back personality, brains, and a hardcore sense of business that could make Donald Trump seem amateur Bass has stepped into the forefront and has left the other two behind in the background. Bass owns a successful music management company and a burgeoning film production company, which will see it’s first film released this fall with none other than Lance himself playing the lead. Although Joey Fatone will co-star in the Miramax film all eyes will most likely once again be on Bass, but than again what else is new.

For now it seems that Fatone and Kirkpatrick are seated safely in the backseat of the Nsync roller coaster. For whatever reason they see no reason to complain that a recent issue of YM magazine featuring the group felt compelled to use only Timberlake, Chasez and Bass in full page (easy to hang as posters) pictures, and left the other two to be featured in small, bottom of the page of article shots. They obviously have no beef with that fact that the 2002 Nsync calendars are being sold in only four ways: a group, a Justin, a JC, and a Lance. They must not seem to mind that more 8" by 10" pictures sold at the group’s Pop Odyssey tour feature multiple shots of their three friends but only one or two of them. So I guess all in all, if they don’t mind than why should anyone else. Maybe being in the "Biggest Band in the World" is just enough.

*NSYNC to Tour in Europe?
Date: August 11th

There is speculation 'N Sync may bring their juggernaut PopOdyssey tour to the UK later this year for a long-awaited visit to Britain as part of a European tour. Their record company Jive Records and management are understood to be in talks with promoters this side of the Atlantic to bring the five heartthrobs to Europe although sources stress no final decision has yet been made. There has been no official comment from the group or their record company or management.

*NSYNC Will be Coming Back!
Date: August 9th
Source: DigitalGurl86@aol.com

Hey...i thought i'd let you know about this. i emailed Leilani (works with the fan club) because i wanted to know if my soundcheck pass for my cancelled concert would be valid the next time *NSYNC comes to my town. she emailed me back with one of the sentences being: "Because we do not yet know where the second leg of the tour will go, I can't guarantee future passes". she also mentioned that any cancelled dates would be covered on the 2nd leg of the tour. the reason they couldn't be rescheduled for now is because most of the crew is only scheduled to work up till the 27th of August, and *NSYNC's last planned concert date is on the 24th. (it takes 3-4 days to move the stage) so they wouldn't be able to cover Miami and Alabama in time. but, *NSYNC will be coming back!

Update from Melinda at nsync.com

Hello everyone!!! Oh my where do I start? First, sorry for the delay but I had a few computer problems, enough said. OH BEFORE I FORGET...THERE WAS A MISTAKE IN THE THANK YOU'S FOR THE CFTC PROGRAM... SOMEONE VERY IMPORTANT WAS LEFT OFF. SO I TAKE THIS MOMENT TO THANK LONNIE FOR WORKING ON CHALLENGE WITH US...THANKS LONNIE!!!

Wow, what an exciting and strange last few weeks. Mother nature has definately not been on our side. Lets's rewind...

Los Angeles, awesome record release party followed by the Rosebowl show. Then it was off to Vegas for Challenge For The Children. It was off the hook! Everyone flew in friday and the festivities began. Look for a wrap around to be posted in the CFTC section very soon. It will give you all the details of the weekend. So now we can catch ourselves up to the present.

What I will say is thank you to eveyone who came out to support such a good cause. We will be selling the remaining merchandise through our fan club so keep you eyes out for that. There are some really cute things this year. Also I will be posting a lot of great pictures as soon as they come in from the photographer. Legends & Heros..you all rock as title sponsors! Jim Jacobs and NetJets & GM Chevy- keep getting us there, Nabisco, Rockawear, Levis, and all our other sponsors we couldn't have done it without you too! OK so Challenge turns Platinium this year and we head to Tampa for a show...this is where mother nature kicks in...

The guys did a show in the rain yes it rained the whole show. then we head to Miami and there is a tropical storm that is tearing up our load-in crew. The storm was building and scheduled to hit land and made it unsafe for not only our fans but the crew and our 5 guys to do the show. So we had to cancel. Well now Joey is not feeling well. He didn't feel well in Tampa but did the show anyway...what a trooper. So we head to San Antonio, but Joey stays back because he isn't feeling better. You know the rest of the story by now but I will tell it one more time...Joey had to go to the hospital to help him feel better.

So the four guys do the show in San Antonio, and before the show starts we get a call from the steel crew/site coordinator that the weather is terrible and guess what...that same tropical storm we left in Miami is heading right for BIRMINGHAM!!! So we fly home and wait...well again the news is not good and we are forced to cancel another show because of the wrath of Barry! But the good news is Joey got out of the hospital the day after the San Antonio Show, so he is all better and back with us.

Whew, are you staying with me...now we are at the present...and yes we are planning to head to Louisville tomorrow to do our show, then it is on to one of my favorite cities, Atlanta...oh yeah I know the Dirty Bird lives there. Hopefully Barry's rain will not keep following us. OH MY GOSH...HOW could I ramble on this long without saying...HAPPY BIRTHDAY JC! I am sure he had a great birthday! We threw him a party at a movie theater and they saw Rush Hour 2.

After Atlanta the guys are flying cross country to attend the TEEN Choice Awards and then back to the East Coast for the Washington, DC show. Whew, I am tired already. Ok everyone that was the past, present and the future in a nut shell. Don't forget to look for that CFTC merchandise for sale, support a great cause. Oh and one more exciting thing...the website is about to take on a whole new look with a bunch of new things and we may even have a message board! Be sure to check it out. I think we are going to launch it early next week. Now go enjoy your day and do something nice for someone.

Oh and of course Stay *NSYNC!

Melinda

*NSYNC Hunk Joins Brady Bunch
Date: August 9th
Source: tvguide.com, nsyncwebguide.com

Whose Line Is It Anyway? standout Wayne Brady — who launches his own ABC variety series, The Wayne Brady Show, tonight at 8 pm/ET — had an ulterior motive when he asked his good pal, 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake, to drop in for the debut.

"I have to admit — and this is without any shame whatsoever — I'm a huge 'N Sync fan," the 29-year-old Emmy nominee confesses to TV Guide Online. "I just love the music. I love the pop stuff. I don't like a lot of the groups, but I love them."

Apparently, the feeling is mutual. As Brady recalls, Britney Spears's dreamy beau RSVP'd to his special invite on the spot. "I said, 'Look, you know I'm doing this show. I don't know if you're touring, doing another music video... But if you're free... ' [And he replied] 'Yes.' It was that fast. 'Yes, I am.'"

In the hour-long premiere, Brady, Timberlake and fellow singer Brian McKnight belt out an impromptu love song to an unsuspecting — and embarrassed — audience member. So harmonious was the trio's all-improv collaboration that Brady is already planning the reunion. "I've got Justin and Brian and a couple of guys from All-4-One, and we're all working on songs," he reveals. "We'll hopefully put a CD together for release next year."

Could such a project be Timberlake's way of testing the waters for his inevitable solo career? Brady isn't saying, but the versatile performer does offer this not-so-bold prediction: "That's the guy to be on the lookout for after the 'N Sync thing is finished."

Tampa Mom Finds "Piece" of Justin
Date: August 9th
Source: 933flz.com, nsyncwebguide.com

Melba Dumay-Skinner was walking up to her office last week when she noticed something on the ground. A driver’s license.

"I looked to see if (any co-workers) had the same last name, but none did," she says.

The mystery driver was born Jan. 31, 1981, and stands six feet tall — statistics that Melba’s eight- and 19-year-old daughter’s probably know by heart. Mom was holding onto *NSYNC heartthrob Justin Timberlake’s license.

Justin probably lost his license while in town for his group’s "Pop Odyssey" tour. The boy band played Raymond James Stadium, right across the street from Melba’s office, last Tuesday.

Melba called WFLZ-FM’s "MJ Morning Show" for advice on what to do with the license.

"We checked everywhere, and got a call confirming it really is Justin’s driver’s license," host MJ said.

When some *NSYNC fans heard about Melba’s find, they logged on to WFLZ’s website to learn more. A picture of the license was posted there, leading to dozens of fans heading to the Orlando address listed on it. The address wasn’t Justin’s home, but his management company's. Nevertheless, fans have been crowding the location, hoping to get a chance to see the teen idol.

Melba says that while some people would be tempted to sell the license on the internet, she just wants to make sure Justin gets his ID back. She says she wouldn’t mind a couple of autographs for her daughters, however.

MJ says Justin will appear on his program Wednesday morning to explain how he lost his license.
