As if the Destiny's Child's of the music world needed a feeder for their songs of men who cheat and treat woman like garbage. Here is the latest effort by Shaggy. Hopefully this song has a longer half-life than Dance & Shout (***1/2) which was gone in about eight weeks. It Wasn't Me tells the tale of a guy explaining to his buddy (Shaggy) about how he cheated on his girlfriend with "...the woman next door." Apparenly his girl saw the whole thing and knows he did it. Shaggy tells him to tell her that, well, it wasn't him. Ha ha. The basis for the song is a little bit shallow but overall it works splendidly. It's one of those songs that really gets you in the mood to dance. This song may be the song that 34 year old Shaggy has been waiting for. A bit of irony here. How much do you wanna bet that thousands of lovers will make love with this song playing in the background!
