EVENT REPORT - Dave Owen - I arrived at this event, with Geoff Regan, at about 19:30. As the weather forecast was for unbroken cloud and light drizzle, which was unfortunately correct, I did not bring any telescopes to this event. During the course of the evening, due to the light, but persistent, drizzle, there was no sign of any other telescops being set up outside
By about 19:45 Brendan Martin and Geoff Regan had set up the LAS PC projector and laptop PC to display several astronomical images. The Visitors Centre, which can seat 30 people, was not only full, there were a few people looking in from the doorway who could not get a seat, myself included!
After a relatively brief talk Brendan and Geoff invited questions from the audience at about 20:00. These continued for almost 15 minutes! After a short intermission of about 10 minutes Geoff displayed some more images, finishing at about 21:10.
The total attendance was about 14 children and 25 adults. There were also about a dozen LAS members, mostly standing outside and watching the clouds.
As usual, Jim Stacey was able to take some event pictures which can be seen by following the URL below:
