Morty in the Nintendo Games

Gold, Silver and Crystal

Morty is Ecruteak City’s Gym Leader, the fourth gym you come to in the games. Morty trains Ghost type Pokemon, but all of his Pokemon also share the Poison element, so they are weak against Psychic moves. Also try Ground type moves.

Note: In Crystal Version, you are unable to battle Morty as soon as you enter the city; he is at the Burned Towed.

See, that's him to the very right.

Before you can battle Morty, you must first enter the tower and do the following:
1. Meet Eusine, the legendary Pokemon fanatic, who is at the tower with Morty looking for Suicune.
2. Defeat your Rival, who is somewhere at the back in the same room that Morty and Eusine are in.
3. Chase off the Legendary Dogs, and speak to Eusine about Suicune.
4. Now you can go battle Morty!!

Note: The gym floor is invisible and you can only walk on a certain path. Follow this guide to reach Morty.

If you defeat Morty, he will present you with the Fog Badge. The Fog Badge makes Pokemon up to Level 50 obey you, and lets you use Surf outside of battle. You also get TM30, Shadow Ball, a ghost type attack that may lower your opponent’s special defense.

-Also, the sign outside Ecruteak Gym describes Morty as “The Mystic Seer of the Future.”
-There is also a sign somewhere in Ecruteak that reads, “Ecruteak City: A Historical City where the Past Meets the Present.”

Pokemon Puzzle Challenge

Morty has been put back onto the Game Boy system; this time in a sequel to Nintendo's popular N64 game, Pokemon Puzzle League.

Challenge Mode

As always, Morty is the fourth leader you'll face. The Pokemon he uses is Gastly. His skill depends on the level you are playing at... difficulty level range from Easy to Intense.

Line Clear Mode
Line Clear is an imitation of the Spa Service mode from Puzzle League for N64. You must clear all of the blocks past the line to clear each stage. There are 8 stages representing each leader... Morty is the stage in the middle. You only have one round to clear, as opposed to the other leaders which have 5. The blocks move up the screen really fast, and you have to clear it by getting combos with your blocks. You may advance even if you don't clear it.
